1. Bill: There will be a hearing regarding the proposed Cannon Beach
Trail. The deadline to submit your position to the city is January 5th in
order to be able to have the right to speak at the public hearing. Bill
passed around a petition in support of the trail.

2. Tim and Dawn Krupa have been married 40 years. Dawn’s father worked
for Pan American. Tim and Dawn traveled extensively with greatly reduced
airline tickets. They visited many spas in many countries in their travels.
Twelve years ago, they came upon Cannon Beach and fell in love. They bought
a condo at Breaker’s Point and after seeing the lack of a spa in town,
started Cannon Beach Spa (www.cannonbeachspa.com
<http://www.cannonbeachspa.com/> ) upstairs in the Cannon Beach Mall. The
business grew and 5 years later they bought the old firehouse and converted
it into their new spa along with space to accommodate Northwest by Northwest
Gallery, House of the Potter and now James – a personal trainer. Cannon
Beach Spa is a complete Spa experience – offering massage, facials, body
wraps & hydrotherapies. Body massages start at $65. Cannon Beach Spa
administered 10,000 massages in 2007. Japanese foot massages are $25.
Besides massage, the spa has an acupuncturist. Tim is a licensed
chiropractor of 30 years. Half of the spa’s customers are first timers.
Products sold at the spa include a line of seaweed products from Victoria
Island in Canada. Tim is dedicated to making natural health care affordable
and helping people “find and walk the path of natural health.” A free
Japanese Foot Spa was offered to all those present. (see list above)

3. Bill: CB Community Food Systems through strong community support is a
viable sustainable organization. Thanks to all who helped.

4. Gary: Savor Cannon Beach plans are moving ahead. To be included in
the advertising/PR, one must have their info to Gary by Jan 15th.

5. Rob Spooner: Issues of the 2010 Mile by Mile Guide to Hwy 101
(www.visittheoregoncoast.com <http://www.visittheoregoncoast.com/> ) were
passed out yesterday throughout town. Besides this publication, Rob
publishes Oregon Coast Magazine (since the mid 80’s) and www.ohwy.com
<http://www.ohwy.com/> . Stephanie encouraged Rob to include “art” in his
future descriptions of Cannon Beach.
6. Jeanie McLaughlin offered to start a Spanish class to last half an
hour each Wednesday following the WMM. The cost is $10 per month. She needs
approx 10 people. The class would go for 2 months. For details: 436-2412 or
jeaniehallmclaughlin at hotmail.com.

7. Bob Mushen (our County Commissioner): ODOT is on track to get our Hwy
101 flooding problem solved. Bob says he will not rest till it is taken care
of.

8. Bob Mushen/Jeff Jewel: NWACT and ODOT will be holding a meeting on
January 7th at 1:00pm. Among the agenda items are a discussion between local
jurisdictions, ODOT, and the Oregon Trucking Associations regarding the
proposed scope of work on the Dennis Edwards Tunnel on Hwy 26 between Cannon
Beach and Portland. The meeting will be held at the Scappoose Fire Hall,
52751 Columbia River Hwy (north end of town just off Hwy 30). I have
attached a copy of the minutes from the last meeting which was held at the
Cannon Beach Chamber and the agenda for the Scappoose meeting. Please let me
know ASAP if you plan to attend, we will attempt to arrange carpooling or
other transportation options depending on number of attendees. RSVP to
jeff at cannonbeach.org.

9. Jeff: Ocean Lodge has rescheduled their Business After Hours from Jan
to Feb, therefore the January slot is open – Jan 14, 2010. Contact
jeff at cannonbeach.org.

10. Margo: 2010 marks 20 years for the Cannon Beach Children’s Center.
Margo was part of the organizers 20 years ago.

11. Jenee: Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District is proud to bring yet
another fun, safe and exciting event to the boys and girls of the North
Coast! This New Year's Eve, SEPRD will host the first ever “Skateboard
Lock-In”. What is a “Lock-In”? Precisely what it states! Once you sign in
your child at 8pm New Year's Eve, they are not permitted to leave the Camp
Rilea Armory without your signing them out New Year's morning!

12. Kim: The first recipient of help from the fund initiated by this group
has a new culvert in their drive and is now getting pre-paid high-speed
internet installed in their home. Jenee had asked for volunteers to form a
committee to make decisions on use of funds donated to the Cannon Beach
Charity Fund. Kim suggested that a need be found prior to soliciting funds.
George agreed and suggested that all donations be designated by the giver as
to where they should go. A small group met after the meeting to discuss
further.

13. Kim: Spring Unveiling will be Friday April 30, Saturday May 1 and
Sunday May 2 this year to avoid Mother’s Day. Sponsors will be recognized in
a brochure that will be out in a week or so.

14. Various people called attention to the value of these Wednesday
Morning Meetings and appreciation for the efforts of Wendy Higgins and
George Vetter for organizing, arranging and reporting – and to Bob Neroni
and Lenore Emory for hosting the early meetings. [Thanks to all 2009 hosting
venues– Ocean Lodge (1 week), EVOO (14 weeks) Chamber of Commerce (4 weeks),
Pig n Pancake (1 week) Lumberyard (1 week) Tolovana Inn (14 weeks), History
Center (1 week) and Mo’s (16 weeks)]

15. George: The 9-member Chamber Board will gather next Tuesday with
facilitator Carolyn McVicker for Part Deux of Retreat 2009/2010. There was
too much to cover everything in the December 15 session. The Board’s goal is
to come up with a 2010 plan by setting priorities based on the Chamber’s
Mission Statement and realistically grounded in available resources. Send
your ideas/input to chamberboard at cbor.us.
16. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – January 6th 2010, Mo’s , 8am.

passed out a sheet titled “How to prevent freezing pipes” She showed a timer
device that connects to a gas water heater to control temperature and hot
water timing to save energy. She recommends a tankless water heater. She
brought some items donated to her by suppliers which she raffled off by
selling raffle tickets for $1 each to anyone around the table. The money
($21) went to the Cannon Beach Children’s Center. Jenee has raised and

Tell by Jenee Pearce / Pearce-Sunnell Contracting (see upcoming list below)

1. Gary passed out a preliminary sheet on Savor Cannon Beach
explaining that all businesses are welcome to participate and if warranted
and submitted by January 11, their info will be included in the full page ad
and article in Coast Explorer Magazine and in news releases. This event is
built around the Winter Wine Walk which is an annual, all important
fundraiser for the Cannon Beach Childrens Center. A couple months ago, they
moved the event from Presidents Weekend/Valentines at the request of
businesses who felt that weekend was already a busy one and that a new
event, with community support and participation could still serve the
Childrens Center while helping businesses at the same time. Gary stepped up
with the offer to coordinate the effort. The date is March 12-14. So far
there is an Oregon Pinot Tasting set for Friday, the Wine Walk for Saturday,
a Wine Food & Travel Silent Auction at the Chamber on Saturday, Special Wine
Dinners at several restaurants on Fri & Sat, Wine Food and Art related
events at several galleries. To participate, contact
gary at coastexplorermagazine.com. To be a stop on the wine walk, contact Gary,
or Carol at the Childrens Center - cbchildrenctr at yahoo.com.

2. Stephanie Ansley had the floor for Show & Tell. Tracy Abel had been
scheduled, but was not able so Stephanie stepped up to make a spontaneous
presentation. Her history is colorful and she spoke much faster than I can
write but here is a glimpse of Stephanie that I got on paper. Her ancestors
came over on the Mayflower. Her father was an educated writer and an artist.
Her mother was the family provider. At 19, Stephanie was paying the rent for
her parents. They lived in Florida. Stephanie, with her husband, operated a
Coast Guard Cutter. She dived, spending as much time under water as above.
She fished, sometimes catching as many as 100 lobster at a time. Her mother
instilled in her “Life is supposed to be fun”. She supported two husbands
through school, one a physician. Her first business was a Lingerie Store in
Maui, Hawaii. She grew up sewing and loving clothing. To have a known label
in clothing was valued. She built the store to 8 employees. During the Gulf
War, business suffered. Fifteen neighboring stores closed. She eventually
gave the business back to the landlord and went to work for another gallery
before opening a new gallery and renting wall space to noted artists. She
moved that gallery to the Intercontinental Hotel (still in Hawaii). When the
hotel was sold and scheduled for a two year renovation, she liquidated. She
then discovered Cannon Beach but no space was available. She opened Primary
Elements Gallery in Manzanita and eventually met Jeffrey Hull through her
surfer son. Jeff put some of his work in her gallery. When Valley Bronze
left Sandpiper Square, Jeff connected her with landlord Mike Clark who
visited her gallery and invited her to take Valley Bronze’s space down the
hall from Jeffrey Hull Gallery. Her gallery carries artists from around the
world in dozens of mediums. Because of her steadfastness in not owning a TV,
she took evening classes at CCC to learn numerous crafts. She has always
enjoyed the written word. She says, for her “Art is a way of life”.

3. Ann: Found (in Midtown) is selling Christmas trees. Get your fresh
tree now.

4. Jenee thanked those that participated in last week fundraiser for
John Chapman at the Seaside Convention Center. More than $20K was raised.

5. Bob Mushen: The County is offering the H1N1 vaccine today at Rilea
Armed Forced Training Center from 1pm till 7pm if supplies last.
6. Bob Mushen: The Cannon Beach Charity account that was initiated at
last weeks meeting is now set up at US Bank. $910 has been donated, but no
money has been disbursed as of yet. This account is intended to help those
in need in our community. Make check payable to US Bank. Designate that the
money is for the CB Charity Account and specify a recipient if you have one
in mind.

7. Bob Mushen (newly appointed) County Commissioner will begin January
12th with a biweekly opportunity to air concerns and ideas. Alternate
Tuesdays at 815am at his home – 148 E Van Buren, Cannon Beach. Speakers will
be there. Jan 12 – Mark Thompson, Business Counselor at CCC.
8. Kim reminded everyone of the January, February and March focus for
art and other business set by the CB Gallery Group (see #3 below from last
week). Kim has just been voted president of that group and says that focus
for the remaining months of the year will be announced in January after the
next Gallery Group Meeting.
9. Jeanie: The FIRST Cannon Beach celebration, a procession called "Las
Posadas." This procession commemorates the nine days, Dec. 16 (tonight)
through Dec. 24 at 6pm at the Elk Creek Terrace Apartments. Mary and Joseph
traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem, looking for an inn for Jesus' birth..
The Spanish word "posada" means "inn" or "lodging. Mary and Joseph are
referred to as "Los Pergegrinos" (the Pilgrims). The Hispanic community
welcomes one and all. There will be chanting, other songs, a special
Christmas punch, and pinata for all to enjoy. Contact
jeaniehallmclaughlin at hotmail.com.
10. George: The Chamber will be out Sunday December 20th to pick their
favorite decorated/lighted business. Winners will be announced next week.
The prize is the pride – show yours.
11. George: Yesterday’s Chamber Board Planning Retreat with all 9 board
members, the executive director and a facilitator was very positive. The
group started with the Chamber’s Mission and worked 4 hours identifying
goals, projects, functions, roles, challenges, organization, structure,
committees, liaisons, events, etc. A follow up meeting was set prior to the
retreat for Jan 5th but after the retreat it was agreed to try to find an
earlier date when all (or nearly all) would be available. Committees and
liaisons are Finance – Tim Krupa (treasurer), Marketing – Tracy Abel (new
VP), Sandcastle – Kelli Taylor, Stormy Weather Arts Festival – Tracy,
Haystack Holidays – Margo Dueber, Website/Magazine – Jim McDonald. By-Laws –
Rich Mays, and Membership Carol Hungerford (Secretary). The liaison forms
the committee and finds potential committee members. The liaison, George
Vetter (President) and Jeff Jewel (E.D.) pick the members. Committees run by
Robert’s Rules of Order. Each Committee chooses its Chair. Each Chair
appoints a secretary. Notes from committee meetings are submitted to the
committee members, the board and the E.D. no later than two business days
after the meeting. Committee liaisons or their designees report to the board
at board meetings.

12. BobNec: The chatroom at www.cannonbeachweather.com
<http://www.cannonbeachweather.com/> deserves another look.

13. Kathy: The city of Warrenton has a poll on their site regarding
development. Put in your 2 cents at http://ci.warrenton.or.us/index.php?id=7

14. Jenee: Today is wrapping day at the Convention Center in Seaside for
Toy for Tots. .\ Jenee with any questions. 503-436-9292 or jpmushen at aol.com

15. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – December 16, Mo’s, 8am - Show &
Tell by Tracy Abel / Abel Management (see upcoming list below)

1. When asked by Wendy, Jim reported that that yesterday’s fire was
contained quickly by what he described as a “Super” Cannon Beach Fire
Department. The fire was discovered by maintenance people doing a morning
walkthrough and hearing the beeping of a smoke alarm behind a closed door.
Upon opening the door, they found a smoldering fire. Had it not been for the
smoke alarm, it would certainly have been much worse before it was
discovered. The cause has not been confirmed but appeared to be items
stacked on a stove that a unit was accidentally bumped “on”.

2. Carmen went all out in preparing for her Show & Tell. When I
arrived she had already put out three separate gift packets at each seat.
All decorated with seasonal greenery, they were from Sea Ranch’s Sundance
Station. There was a ground coffee packet, a tea packet and a 2010 calendar
booklet. Plus some literature from Sea Ranch. In 1952 Paul Swigart (Carmen’s
father-in-law) bought Elk Creek Riding Academy on the south side of Elk
Creek (now Ecola Creek). Property on the north side was purchased later.
1964 saw the beginning of Sea Ranch Trailer Village. Sea Ranch Drive Inn
opened in 1966 and was the hot spot for Cannon Beach’s up and coming adults.
Carmen arrived on the scene in 1975, a city girl from Peru with a Boston
education – trained as an educator. “Not a horse person”. Carmen married
Terry and joined the business. The trailer park (long term trailer rentals)
were done away with and Sea Ranch became an RV Park. Cabins were added
several years ago. The stables have always been part of the business. Rides
are offered May thru Labor Day. Daily trips are made by pickup truck picking
up horse droppings and anything else that is not part of the beach’s natural
environment. The rest of the year the horses vacation on 200 acres at Miles
Crossing. Carmen’s horse “Sundance” inspired the name for the general store
and wellness center she and Terry built and opened in 2007. Sea Ranch
employs up to 20 people during the summer. Carmen now has plans for an event
lodge modeled after the Chamber building for guests to hold functions. When
asked, she said it would be available for Cannon Beach functions also.

3. Wendy: The Cannon Beach Gallery Group recently sent out ideas for
Cannon Beach businesses to focus on for each of the months of Jan, Feb and
Mar.

money is for the CB Charity Account and specify a recipient if you have one
in mind.

7. Tracy: Mark Piscitelli has announced that he is stepping down as
president of the Chamber of Commerce. He will continue on the board till a
replacement can be found. As vice president, George Vetter is taking over as
president.
8. George: The Chamber board will have a retreat next Tuesday to do
long term goal planning and work on organizational structure. For input
prior to the retreat, e-mail george at cannon-beach.net.
9. Jeff: Lamplighting (see photos at
www.cannon-beach.net/events/lamplighting2009) was well attended as was the
reception at the Chamber afterward. Debbie suggested that Lamplighting be
held on Thanksgiving Weekend when more people are here. Debbie says people
are concerned that Lamplighting will not continue now that Jay Schwehr is no
longer able to do it. For more than 30 years, Jay had lit kerosene lamps
nightly during the Christmas Season. In the morning he would make the rounds
to extinguish the lamps and refill them with kerosene. In recent years
because of his age and mobility, he has had to cut back. A new lamplighter
is needed.
10. Jeff: The future of Wal-Mart appears to be in the hands of the city
of Warrenton. For input, it is necessary to go to Warrenton city meetings.
Warrenton city leaders are strongly in favor.
11. Jeff: 7 Regional Mayors are against the lowering of the grade of the
Sunset Tunnel. There is an ODOT meeting in Scapoose Jan 7. More details at
future meetings.

12. Melissa: The City Council has a Retreat scheduled for Feb 20. A
facilitator will be used. Input is welcome. E-mail
morgan at ci.cannon-beach.or.us, steidel at ci.cannon-beach.or.us,
giasson at ci.cannon-beach.or.us, cadwallader at ci.cannon-beach.or.us,
higgins at ci.cannon-beach.or.us, cityhall at ci.cannon-beach.or.us.

13. Jeanie: The Hispanic community has a 9-night event, Las Posadas,
scheduled to begin Dec 16 at Elk Creek Terrace. For more info contact
jeaniehallmclaughlin at hotmail.com

14. BobNec: The Chamber is seeking a CPA who would do an audit –
hopefully pro-bono or in trade. If you use a CPA, please ask them.

15. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – December 16th, Mo’s , 8am. Tracy
Abel / Abel Management will have the floor for Show and Tell. Bring your
coffee cup. Mo’s is not open for breakfast on Wednesdays this time of year
so we have the place to ourselves.

11. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – December 9, Mo’s, 8am - Show & Tell
by Carmen Swigart/Sea Ranch RV Resort and Stables (see upcoming list below)

1. Kim mentioned someone in the community needing some help. BobNec
said there are others too. After discussion, it was decided that
Jeff at cannonbeach.org would serve as the recipient of donations and would
maintain a volunteer list of those willing to help out with such things as
picking something up, dropping something off, some labor, etc. The idea was
to help out that currently in need, but also to be ready to help out in the
future. Make donations payable to Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce, but be
sure to designate that it is for the "Helping Hand" fund.

2. John Sowa came from Brooklyn, then spent years in the corporate
world in Chicago before becoming a trained Cajun Creole chef. He opened Lil
Bayou in Seaside after coming out to visit his wife Debbie's parents and
making a visit to Ecola Point. When the success and ensuing time commitment
of Lil Bayou became too much, he sold it in 2007 and downsized to Sweet
Basil's Cafe (www.cafesweetbasils.com) in Cannon Beach. Not only was the
size of Sweet Basil's a change, so was the fare - natural, organic. Because
the restaurant is so small and the kitchen is only separated by a counter,
John is in constant contact with his guests. The restaurant seats 12 people
- reservations are advised. His specialty is lunch with 36 items on the
menu. He just added a monthly Cajun Creole night - the last Saturday of the
month. He and Glynis Valenti just recently opened Wild Vines Wine bar
(www.wildvinescb.com) next to Sweet Basils. Open from 330p to 10pm, Wild
Vines offers wine and lite fare.

3. Valerie said her book business was down from last year for
Thanksgiving. Wendy said Ocean Lodge renting more rooms but at lower rates.
Bob said EVOO was flat. Mimi at Buttery said business was good. Carmen said
Sea Ranch was down for November, but that last year was a good one.

4. Kim reported that Dena's did well starting at 8am on Friday after
Thanksgiving (Morning Madness) No one else reported that the 8am opening
worked for them. BobNer suggested that next year we have evening madness
instead.
5. BobNer warned of the danger of discounting and how Cannon Beach's
"crème de la crème" reputation is something which took years to develop and
is valuable. Discounting will erode it. Jim advocates building
relationships. People are much less likely to be looking for or expecting a
discount if they have a relationship with the owners/managers/staff of a
business.
6. Jeff ran down the events coming up for Haystack Holidays - Library
Tea Dec 5th from 11am to 4pm. Lamplighting (including a tribute to Jay
Schwehr for his 33 years as lamplighter) Dec 5th at 4pm followed by a
reception at the Chamber and the Docents art exhibit and reception from
6-8pm at Cannon Beach Gallery in Midtown. (see
http://www.cannonbeach.org/pdfs/haystack%20holidays%20flyer.pdf)
7. Jeff: Our mayor, Mike Morgan, is working with 7 other mayors to
pressure ODOT to work 24/7 to minimize tunnel closure time. Also, the mayors
are trying to dissuade ODOT from lowering of the deck of the tunnel which
would increase closure time.
8. Jenee asked for donations of unwrapped toys. She also asked for
volunteers to wrap those toys on the 16th. contact jpmshen at aol.com.
9. Elaine: US Bank has their gift tree up as they do every year
10. Susan Boac, advertising sales consultant for Coast River Business
Journal introduced herself and passed around the December issue.

Swigart/Sea Ranch RV Resort and Stables will have the floor for Show and

13. Wendy started in the Lodging business with Martin Mangement. Eleven
years ago, when Tom Drumheller and Patrick Nofield left Steve Martin to
start Escape Lodging, she joined them. She first managed Inn at Cannon
Beach, then a Best Western affiliate, then became the first manager of Ocean
Lodge when it opened 7 years ago.Her approach at Ocean Lodge is to create
the feeling of a second home for guests. Ocean Lodge, with a staff of 26,
has 45 rooms, 17 of which are pet friendly. Occupancy has been up, but rates
are down. Guests are shopping and bargaining during these challenging
ecomonic times. Wendy was just named Inn Keeper of the Year by the Oregon
Lodging Association. She and hubby Fred met in Guam and have been married 31
years. They have 3 children and 1 grandchild.
14. The annual fundraiser for Providence Seaside Hospital - Festival of

input it needed. Send your ideas or questions to "Tracy Abel"

1. WOW (Women Only Weekend) recap
2. Women Only Weekend - 2010 - Nov 12-14
3. Take Care Exposé by owner Karen Myhr
4. Must-See pianist at Coaster Theatre - Stephen Beus
5. January Tunnel Meeting

7. Power Outage
7. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – November 25, Mo’s, 8am - Show &
Tell by Wendy Higgins of Ocean Lodge

1. General response to WOW (Women Only Weekend) was that most of the
visitors to shops and restaurants did not know of the event before getting
to town or before being asked. Consensus was that the WOW should become an
annual event. Next year publicity needs to start in July or August. Jim at
Tolovana Inn reported that notice went out by e-mail to 500,000 people, but
did not result in a lot of rooms rented. They did get some phone calls,
mostly wanting to know what pampering services would be available at the
hotel. Jim says next year they will offer services. Carmen said her spa at
Sea Ranch RV was scheduled full. Margo reported that Saturday night was also
Customer Appreciation Night at her shop (Maggie & Henry) and at several
other shops. This is an event started by Abbas and Jill at Purple Moon
several years ago. Margo says traffic was way down. Wendy said Ocean Lodge
(who started WOW a couple years ago) was full on Saturday night. Their
3pm-530pm Saturday reception had 30-40 people and the 10pm pajama party had
12 attendees. Valerie recommended fewer events on the schedule and a strong
focus on "Shopping and Pampering". Jim at IceFire Glassworks said it was
poor weekend at his business. Stephanie said the same. Karen at Take Care
said she served cocktails with food and had a decent turnout. George
reported that sales at El Mundo For Men were ok - about the same as last
year, but the best hour of the day was between 6 and 7pm - influenced by
WOW. His gallery had no one come in inquiring about WOW even though pink W
signs were posted in the windows. Joyce at NW by NW Gallery said it was
quiet there. Bob said a couple business owners asked him why they were not
included.
2. Consensus was to set the 2010 date for Women Only Weekend for Nov
12-14. [Mark your calendar now].
3. Karen Myhr showcased her business - Take Care - an Interactive Spa
Boutique - located downtown in Loblolly Square. There are two sides to her
business - Retail and Services. She encourages local business by offering a
first time $10 discount and continued $5 discount. Her services include
manicures, pedicures, facials, etc. She is closed Wed and Thurs in winter.
She passed around her menu of services, a retail list of her products and
samples of some of her products. Visit her shop to really appreciate what
she has to offer, but right now you can click www.takecarecannonbeach.com to
learn more. Valerie and Margo both gave testimonials for Karen's services.
4. Classical pianist Stephen Beus will perform at the Coaster Theatre
Sunday 3pm. Ticket are $15 at the box office in advance or at the event.
5. Wendy announced that there will be a Tunnel meeting with the state
in January. This will be an opportunity for input. Date to be announced
later.
6. George brought up the topic of high water on 101 causing the road to
be closed to all but trucks and high profile vehicles. George expressed
concern that this recurring event is very bad PR for the area. He would
prefer that this problem be dealt with prior to expanding the Highway 26
tunnel to accommodate larger trucks. He described his experience yesterday
in having a wave created by a truck crash over the hood of his minivan
killing the engine as he was shuttling his kids to school. Others agreed
fixing this recurring problem is a high priority.
7. The power was out for 25 hours beginning Monday around 4pm. Pacific
Power brought a generator in behind Cannon Beach Mall to supply the
downtown, but before it could be turned on, normal power was restored, but
not before more than just a few refrigerators yielded spoils.
8. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – November 25th, Mo’s , 8am. Wendy
Higgins of Ocean Lodge will have the floor for Show and Tell. Bring your
coffee cup. Mo’s is not open for breakfast on Wednesdays this time of year
so we have the place to ourselves..

7. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – November 18, Mo’s, 8am - Show &
Tell by Karen Myhr of Take Care

1. We went around the table and everyone expressed their take on Last
weekend's SWAF. General consensus was that the crowd was good (down somewhat
from prior years). It was a good crowd having a good time. There were new
faces in the crowd. Money was tight, but some galleries reported sales up
from prior events. Quick Draw on Friday sold out in spite of the increase in
admission. The hope that the increased admission would attract more art
buyers did not materialize. Bidding was down. Quick Draw/SWAF photos can be
seen by clicking the Quick Draw link near the top of www.cannon-beach.net.
The Hornbuckle Concert sold out at the last minute and was reported to have
been a "Great Show" - two encores. After making the gallery rounds on
Saturday night, people stuck around on Sunday. BobNec suggested we add a
Sunday event in 2010. Jeff reported that neighboring towns had copy-cat
events this year - a form of flattery for Cannon Beach.

2. Bob Neroni and Lenore Emory of EVOO treated everyone to cinnamon
rolls and bacon cheese puffs and shared their EVOO story. They found Cannon
Beach years ago and wished at the time to live here. Five years ago, they
found a home and business location and opened EVOO with a focus on the "Art
of Cooking". The food, for the most part, is organic, free range with care
to only offer seafood not on the endangered list. They offer classes,
catering and retail. Their Dinner Show is a four course wine dinner prepared
as you watch. It is served Thu, Fri & Sat 7pm to 930pm. [I can tell you from
my own experience - this is a must .. George] Go to their freshly updated
website www.evoo.biz to see their schedule and offerings.

3. Women Only Weekend (WOW) is this weekend. Wendy passed out pink
8.5x11 sheets with a big W and "Women Only Weekend Participant" for
businesses to put in their windows to let people know that they have
something special going on. There is a flyer listing businesses who got
their info to Wendy early enough, but if your business has any kind of
special offering, contact Wendy at oceanlodge.com to get your pink sheet. The
flyer can be found by clicking the WOW link near the top of
www.cannon-beach.net.

4. SWAF apparel is still available. Long sleeve tees ($22.50 to $25),
Qtr Zip Sweatshirts ($44 to $49.50) and Hooded Sweats ($37.50 to $43.50) are
available and the Chamber Also wine ($20) with the SWAF 2009 Logo (signed by
the artist) is available at the Chamber or at Oregon Gallery. see
http://www.cannonbeach.org/swaf2008/merchandise.pdf.

5. The annual meeting of the Historical Society will be Nov 21 at 9am
at the History Center. John Williams and George Shields will be honored.
6. Margo Dueber is looking for an artist who can do two "quick"
caricatures for her. mdueber at opusnet.com
7. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting – November 18th, Mo’s , 8am. Karen
Myhr of Take Care will have the floor for Show and Tell. Bring your coffee
cup. Mo’s is not open for breakfast on Wednesdays this time of year.
