1. George: Plein Air & More - Friday night's "Meet the Artists" event at
the Chamber building opened at 5pm and filled immediately. Approx 150 people
enjoyed the art and met the artists while sipping wine and enjoying hors
d'oeuvres from Sweet Basils. The room had been converted by volunteers from
the Cannon Beach Gallery Group to a very nice gallery with the addition of
64 feet of track lighting and temporary dividers constructed of joined 36"
door panels - trimmed and capped. Displayed art was by the artists who would
be painting and creating outside "en plein air" on Saturday. Jim: On
Saturday 40 some artists took to the streets, courtyards and the beach to
create. Maps were available around town showing who was scheduled to be
where. Artists were given CB Gallery Group flags for further identification.
At 4 pm, artists took their work to their representing galleries where
receptions were held. Galleries generally reported good sales, mostly of
their featured Plein Air artists. George: In polling lodging establishments
of their occupancy rates for the weekend compared to last year, all but one
reported increases. Many were 100% occupied. BobNer: EVOO had a full weekend
and good store sales. The weekend's Plein Air and More slide show can be
found on www.cannon-beach.net

2. Stephanie: Low tides draw people to the coast. We need to capitalize.
George: We have minus tides for the next week. Today at 620am and then
approx 45 minutes later each day.

3. Jennifer: Yesterday's Farmers Market escaped the rain, but it was a bit
windy. 1200 people came out.. The peaches didn't make it, but raspberries
did. Peaches should be here on the 12th. The City is paying $50 per market
for music. An additional $50 per week is being sought so musicians can get
at least $100. Your name will be displayed as a sponsor. Thanks to Julie
Walker of Center Diamond and also George Vetter for their $50 contributions.
Contact Jennifer through www.cannonbeachmarket.org

4. Susan: 14 people have signed up to start a Jaycees chapter on the North
Coast. Six more are needed. Encourage your sons, daughters, employees (18-40

15. Susan: The Clatsop County Foster Children Clothing Drive is underway.
Contact Susan Boac - seasidesusan at gmail.com.

16. George: Summer is here. We all hope and pray that visitors fill our
businesses and keep our registers ringing. Since most of our visitors come
here in their cars, they need parking. If we, owners and employees, take up
the most convenient spaces before our visitors have a chance, we force them
to accept less convenient parking or to just move on down the road to the
next town. Parking spaces on Hemlock will turn over 8 times or more in a day
if left for visitors. James says when he was in Lincoln city a study was
done and it was estimated that one parking space represented 64
people/shoppers. 22 new spaces have been added at the east end of 2nd street
and more will come online soon. Put some money in your pocket and burn a few
calories by seeing how far you can walk to work - or bike.

17. George: The city has funded the Shuttle to run through September. It
runs daily leaving Les Shirley Park every half hour starting at 11am. Goes
south to the end of Hemlock (Maher St) and then back. The last stop is Les
Shirley Park at 556pm. The full (and printable) schedule is posted at
www.cannon-beach.net/shuttle.

18. Next Wednesday Morning Meeting - July 6, 2011, Mo's, 8am. Presentation
by Kevin Leahy, Director of the CEDR/SBDC Small Business Development Center.

1. Carol: Sandcastle 2011. There was good and bad. The bad had to do with
the weather and the early incoming tide. The misty, drizzly, rain was
constant. The crowd was estimated by Carol as being a quarter of last year.
(Last year was a banner crowd year) The concessions had to close up an hour
and a half earlier than expected because the police ordered the cars off the
beach at noon instead of 130pm as anticipated. The good was that we had 5
Master plots and 35 others. And those attending were in a good mood, having
a good time. George said that in his many years involved in the setup, this
was probably the best. There were plenty of volunteers and Don Boehm along
with John Nelson and his Coaster Construction crew and equipment were
organized and ready for the task. Coaster Construction was not only a
sponsor for the event, but also put the money up for the cash prizes. Plus
they supplied new stakes, poles and signs which made set-up easier than
ever. Master plots were circles with room for the crowds all the way around.
George's contest photos can be seen by clicking on the "2011" link at
www.cannon-beach.net/sandcastle.html. Photos of the Wednesday Shipwreck are
at www.cannon-beach.net/sandcastle/sandphotos2011.

2. Wendy: A people choice award, where flags are sold and placed on a plot
of the holders choice. The plot with the most flags is the People's Choice.
George: Move the Masters onto the soft sand and supply them with water so
that they can be preserved through Sunday. Right now everything is
compressed into about 4 hours. Once the ropes come down, the thrashers go to
work destroying the sculptures and the attraction is gone. In the mass
exodus, people leave town without having visited our restaurants, shops or
galleries. If people knew they could come back at sunset or even just arrive
at sunset, they may take more time to see the town. Sunday could become a
big day, especially when the weather is better on Sunday than on Saturday.

3. George: Debbie Nelson has said that she and Sam Steidel will not be
doing the Wednesday Community Build next year. Jeff suggested we do it on
Second Street where the car shows are held. If we did it still had it intact
on Saturday during the main event, we could have more trafficking between
town and the beach.

4. George: Carol Hungerford and Tracy Abel have been re-elected to the
Chamber Board. New members Brian Olson (CB Vacation Rentals) and Christen
Allsop (CB Yoga Arts) will take their seats at the July 19th meeting.

5. Stephanie: Plein Air & More. Friday from 5-7p is the kick-off, Meet and
Greet the Artists event at the Chamber. Works will be on display and snacks
and wine will be served. On Saturday from 10-4p more than 20 artists will be
painting, sculpting and photographing throughout town. Info on artists
locations will be available at the galleries. At 2pm on Saturday, people are
invited to join George at his gallery, George Vetter FotoArt in Village
Centre, for a walking photo tour of the artists in action. Saturday evening
galleries will have receptions for their artists and finished work will be
offered for sale.

6. Brent: Tuesday July 12 in the late afternoon is a Meet & Greet the
Director and the Board at the Chamber.

7. Gary: Tomorrow is Gary's Advanced Social Media class at the Chamber from
830a-10a. Chamber members free.

8. Gary: June 30 is the date to get you ad commitment in to save 5% on your
CB Magazine ad. A web app is being developed for Coast Explorer Magazine and
will be available this summer, further adding to the benefits of an ad in CB
Magazine.

9. Wendy: Women Only Weekend (Nov 11-13) is looking to solicit TAC funds.

10. JohnB: Cannon Beach Chorus. Caberet at Tolovana Inn July 8 & 9 at 7pm.
$15 per person or $100 for a table of 8.

11 Robin: HRAP's Summer Potluck is tomorrow Thursday June 23rd, starting at
6pm at the Cannon Beach Community Hall? Free and open to the public, this
potluck will be followed by a guest presentation by Carrie Newell at 730pm,
entitled "Interconnections among Invertebrates and Whales."

12. Gary: Friends of Haystack Rock is seeking board members to replace some
that are retiring. Contact Keith Chandler at seasideaquarium at gmail.com

13. Jennifer: Yesterday's Farmers Market saw beautiful weather and some 1200
people. 14 Volunteers were on hand. Look for peaches at next Tuesday's
market. The City is paying $50 per market for music. An additional $50 per
week is being sought so musicians can get at least $100. Your name will be
displayed as a sponsor. Contact Jennifer through www.cannonbeachmarket.org

the community build of a Shipwreck will take place on Wednesday June 15th
from noon till 4pm. Please join in. On Saturday June 18 at 530am, your
presence is requested on the beach just north of Haystack Rock to help with
setup for the 47th Annual Sandcastle Contest. Masters begin sculpting at 7am
and others at 730am. Judging is completed at noon and cars must be off the
beach by 3pm. Volunteers are also needed after noon for tear-down and
cleanup. Contact Sharon sharon at cannonbeach.org. Registration is desired
before Wednesday June 15 at 4pm. Find the registration form online at
http://www.cannonbeach.org/chamber/events/pdfs/SCregistration2011.pdf.

3. In response to a question from GeorgeV, RobinR said that contrary to
what had originally been considered, all Tourism and Arts Fund dollars were
committed. Nothing was held back. For the first 3 quarters, Motel Tax
revenues are down by 4%. ScottC and WendyH both say that it doesn't look
like this last qtr will be up. So TAC recipient organizations are not likely
to receive the amounts originally estimated.

4. Brent Dahl, new Chamber Executive Director, asked everyone to think
about: "How important is the Chamber to me?". He then went around the table
asking each person what it is that they would like to see the Chamber put

next year.

6. RobertK introduce Brennan P Bajdek. Brennan is leading the group
restoring the Cannons found on Arch Cape beach in 2008. Brennan is a Texas
A&M grad student and this is his thesis. This is his first trip to the
Oregon Coast since he was 11 years old. He and his school shared the trip
expenses. He says the first cannon is restored and is almost pristine. Both
cannons are from the USS Shark as is the one at our History Center. While
Brennan is here, Robert and he are shooting video. Today they visited the
site at Arch Cape and picked up some metal pieces that could be associated
