1. Jennifer: Week three of the Farmers Market had a good turnout.
1100 people shopped 15 vendors while about 12 volunteers helped out. A new
vendor The Juice Box served smoothies and other drinks. Music and lunch
begins at 1pm and quite a few folks are showing up for that. The Farmers
Market is open on Tuesdays from June 12 through September 25, opening at
1:00 with music, prepared food, and community booths. All other vendors
open at 2:00, and the market closes at 5:00. Community booths are for local
non-profits. They are free and come with tents, tables and chairs.
www.cannonbeachmarket.org.
2. George: Plein Air & More kicked of Friday with the Meet and Greet the
artists show at the Chamber. The hall was converted to a first class gallery
with track lighting standing walls throughout. The place filled as the doors
opened and it was festive as wine and lite bites were served. Saturday the
painting and creating began in the rain at 11a at designated places around
town, but mostly in the galleries because of the weather. Volunteers in red
vests were on the street to answer questions. About mid afternoon, the rain
subsided and gave way to a beautiful afternoon and evening. The show at the
Chamber continued on Saturday. Galleries hosted receptions from 5-7p and
later on Saturday showcasing the completed works of their artists. Sunday
artists continued to paint and create around town while Saturdays completed
works were featured at the Chamber. Find the link to Plein Air & More photos
at www.cannon-beach.net.
3. BrianO: The Ocean Lodge has volunteered to be the July afterhours
recipient of calls for lodging vacancy. During business hours, call the
Information Center (503-436-2623) to advise if you have vacancies. At
closing, Sharon will advise the Ocean Lodge (503-436-2241) and post their
phone on the door at the Info Ctr. www.cannonbeach.org
4. GeorgeV: At an organizational meeting last night at city hall,
volunteers signed up to help with removal of debris from our beaches. More
volunteers are needed. It is estimated that tons of debris will land here
over the months and years ahead. Four categories of debris include 1. Litter
and other typical marine debris. Pick up info sheets and bags at city hall
and collect these items and leave the bag(s) secured at the high tide line.
2. Vessel or other large items. Call 911 or US Coast Guard 510-437-3701. 3.
Mementos or Possessions Call 888-953-1677. 4. Hazardous Materials Call
800-424-8802. It is important to keep the beach debis separate from our
local garbage so the volume can be tracked and reported to state and federal
official. Assistance will likely be needed to cope with expected volume of
debris. Locally contact city manager Rich Mays 503-436-8050
mays at ci.cannon-beach.or.us.
5. Tufted Puffins: Two tufted puffins showed up at the meeting accompanied
by StacyB. One spoke cockney English. They were on hand to call attention to
the Great Cannon Beach Puffin Watch over the Independence Day Holiday at
Haystack Rock July 3-5 from 7-10am. The puffin count at the Rock at this
point is 19 - down from more than 100 in past years. No obvious reason has
been agreed upon. But these birds are active so with the help of HRAP
volunteers and scopes, you will be able to see them during low tides next
week and in the weeks to come. www.friendsofhaystackrock.org. Or
www.facebook.com/FriendsOfHaystackRock.
6. JohnB: Cannon Beach Chorus presents Weather or Not a cabaret
performance Fri/Sat July 13/14 at 7pm at Tolovana Inn, featuring Paul
Dueber, emcee. Tickets $20 single. $120 table for eight. Food and beverage
included in ticket price. www.cannonbeachchorus.org.
7. GeorgeV: Pull out the Red, White & Blue. Independence Day is Wednesday.

early for the Puffin Watch at Haystack Rock. Then think Parade. You can not
only be at the Parade, you can be in the Parade. Parade registration starts
at 9am at the Legion with the Parade getting underway at 11am. The days
festivities include a strawberry shortcake sale on the porch U.S. Bank
starting at 10 a.m. (before the parade) by Cannon Beach Chapter FB, P.E.O
Sisterhood, a free concert by the North Coast Symphonic Band, conducted by
David Becker, at 3 p.m. in the Cannon Beach City Park on N Spruce Street
hosted by The Tolovana Arts Colony, the annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. at Cannon Beach Library and a concert at 630p at Sweet Basils.

2. Jennifer: Week two of the Farmers Market was so much better than
Week one due to much improved weather. 835 people shopped 15 vendors while
13 volunteers helped out. The strawberries were excellent and a new vendor
The Honey Pit was a big hit. Carol commented what a fun place it is to
volunteer. Jennifer passed out $5 market tokens which can be purchased at
city hall and at the market with credit cards. Please let folks know that
the Farmers Market is open on Tuesdays from June 12 through September 25,
opening at 1:00 with music, prepared food, and community booths. All other

2. Stephanie/Jim/George: Plein Air & More is June 22-24. Starting Friday
from 5-7p at the Chamber is the Meet and Greet the Plein Air & More artists
with a show, wine and lite bites. Saturday the painting and creating begins
at 11a at designated places around town. Volunteers in red vests will be on

calls after the Information Center is close for the day. A phone number will
be posted on the door at the Chamber. Brian will look into getting a number
that can always be used and forwarded to different numbers as needed.
4. SharonV: When searching Google for Cannon Beach Chamber, the wrong info
comes up. Sharon has been working to have this fixed, but finding where and
how to do so is like finding a needle in a haystack.
5. CarolHun: Sharon Major (Stephanie Inn), Troy Crowe (Ocean Lodge) and
Sheri Russell (Bank of Astoria) are the new board members at the Chamber.
The nine member board also consists of Carol Hungerford, Brian Olson, George
Vetter, Tracy Abel, Christen Allsop and Robin Risley. New board members are
seated at the July 17th meeting.
6. CarolHun: Troy Crowe has stepped up to head the Stormy Weather Arts
Festival committee with the help of Tracy Abel. Committee member are being
sought. Contact chamber at cbor.us. There was much discussion about Fridays
nights Quick Draw event. This event is a money-maker for the Chamber. Some
galleries have complained that the declining amounts received by the
auctioned art devalues the work of participating artists and that their
artists no longer want to participate. Locals, who used to attend and bid
items up to support the Chamber in this fundraiser have not been showing up.
The committee will be looking at ways to energize the evening. Those
attending have enjoyed the evening. The entrance fee of $55 individual and
$99 couple includes food and one glass of wine although free pours are known
to take place on occasion.
