4. Larry Galizio: President at CCC. CCC has a 5-year strategy plan.
There are two campuses 1. Main (recently had a $28M remodel) and 2. MERTS
(Marine & Environmental Training Station) MERTS Open House May 6. Enrollment
is nearly 2500. Median age is 33, including part time students. Only college
in OR with Maritime Program (School Ship Status). CCC has 100 employees.
Personnel is the major expense. It takes people to educate. Only 10% of
moneys come from the State, with approx 40% from Property & Timber Taxes,
40% from Tuition/Fees and 10% new revenue. While enrollment has risen 36%
since 2007, State support has dropped 32%. Federal money only comes in the
form of grants. CCC offers dual credit to High School students (getting
college credit while in HS taking courses at CCC) Many students enroll out
of high school not ready for college level courses and must take courses
with/out credit to catch up. www.clatsopcc.edu.
