3. NalaC introduced Jeeremy Sampson, Senior Director, Marketing and
Communication for Sustainable Travel International. Together they announced
the "Sustainable Seafood Invitation" project for which Friends of Haystack
Rock received a $2000 sustainable tourism grant from Travel Oregon and
Sustainable Travel International. One of seven state-wide projects funded by
the Oregon Travel Philanthropy Fund (OTPF)*, our coast region project will
expand HRAP's educational outreach by increasing visitor awareness of their
role within the ocean food web, especially as it pertains to the animals of
Haystack Rock. Partnering with Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Seafood Watch"
program, our project will empower visitors to make sustainable seafood
choices and encourage patronage of local business partners who pledge to
make sustainable seafood choices. Together, we'll support the healthy
vitality of our visitors, community, and the ocean which sustains us all. To
learn more, please feel free to join me next Wednesday May 22nd at City Hall
for a 9:30am meeting with potential business partners and interested
community members. This project will be a key subject of our June 22 HRAP
training (held from 9am to 1pm at City Hall.) Starting in July, we'll bring
the Sustainable Seafood Invitation project to our beach visitors. How far
can our message reach? Check out this photo from Saturday's beach program --
with visitors coming from as far away as Moscow! Special thanks to Lisa
Sheffield Guy, former HRAP Coordinator, for suggesting Friends of Haystack
Rock as a coastal region prospect for this grant. *Here's a link to the OTPF

5. JimK Best SU yet, but Spring Unveiling at Icefire is typically no better
than other weekends. Chef’s Table worked well. People who saw glass at EVOO
and Stephanie Inn went to Icefire to buy. RisleyW: Sales were good at Oregon
Gallery. People who were staying in Manzanita who came in did not know of
the event. This is common. GeorgeV: The heat wave was a distraction – even
though it drew people to the beach, it took away from the event. StephanieA:
Primary Elements only sold to repeat customers, not a bad thing, but always
looking for new customers during an event like Spring Unveiling. RyanH:
Dreams and Discoveries had good weekend. Since the store is so new, everyday
is a record. KathyK: Business was good at La Luna Loca. JohnB: Chorus had
full house for both weekend concerts.

rights to the images. More info at LKSart on Facebook.
