Reminder: Tomorrow is Wednesday and the WMM at 8am at Pizza a Fetta
(upstairs). Bring your own coffee cup. Coffee is provided courtesy of Pizza
a Fetta and Bella Espresso. Come a bit early to get your coffee downstairs
at Bella.
Note: Thursday is the 4th. Puffin Watch at Haystack all day. Low tides at
5am and 430pm. Parade at 11am. Music in the park bandstand at 7pm with
Bobcat Bob & Friends plus special guest MoZo. Flamebuoyant Firedancers at
the bandstand at dusk (9pm).

1. StephanieA/GeorgeV: Friday night is opening night for Plein Air &
More with an art show and Meet the Artists reception in the Community Hall
starting at 5pm. The show runs thru Sunday with fresh work added. Saturday
will find artists creating all over town. Last year some 50 artists were out
and about. This year promises to be bigger and better. Saturday evenings
receptions at galleries and elsewhere will feature creations of the artists
from their days work. On Sunday many artists will be back out creating. All
businesses are encouraged to demonstrate their creativity. At Village
Centre, Paula Vetter will be demonstrating Zentangle freehand line
drawing. Lo Hanners will demonstrate her nail art (fingernail that is).
Denas Shop on the Corner will have an outdoor fashion show at Ecola Square.

2. EricJ: Archimedes Gallery is having its grand opening on Second Street
Friday at 4pm. Hometown girl Lindsey Oyalas gallery will focus on
exhibiting emerging and established artists who go beyond the spectrum of

3. RyanH: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum opened last
weekend at Coaster Theatre to two good houses. See schedule at

4. Lianne Thompson Public Affairs Specialist, Tsunami Outreach, Oregon
Dept of Geology and Mineral Industries. Awareness rallies have been held
recently in Warrenton and Astoria. Since Cannon Beach has addressed tsunami
awareness already, there are no current plans for here. As the local CERT
leader under Fire Chief Mike Balzer, Lianne encourages everyone to have a
plan and to practice that plan.
5. GeorgeV/JeneeP: Walk the Evacuation Routes each 2nd and 4th Tuesday
starting July 9 thru November. 2nd Tuesdays are at 630pm and 4th Tuesdays
are at 9am. Gather at Cannon Beach Community Church to walk a different

8. Katie Shamion is opening her Beach Salon at 171 N Larch Street, Suite 11

her husband Brad and their two children. She had been working in a salon in
Seaside. Melodie speaks highly of her work.

2. RainmarB: Outgoing City Planner Rainmar Bartl introduced incoming
City Planner Mark Barnes. Rainmars last day is next week. He has been with
the City of Cannon Beach since the 70s. Mark has been doing private
consulting for 20 years.
2. Dan Grassick, City Public Works, says a water main is being put in
under Hemlock Street at the S-curves which will close the road Wednesday
June 26 from about 8am to around noon. The detour will be on Highway 101.
There will be no water disruption.
3. EricJ: Sandcastle 2013 was a big success. The Friday night dinner served
150, Sandcastle Contest had 41 plots including 7 master plots (the most
master ever), t-shirts and small posters sold out on the beach along with
food. 500 cars were parked on the beach at noon with more coming than
leaving. the Saturday night concert was a near full house at Coaster
Theatre, the bonfire w/smores on the beach at Tolovana had more than 150
people, and the Sunday morning Fun Run had 49 runners. Look for Georges

4. RisleyW: On Sunday, people were expecting to see Sandcastles. The PR
showed the event from Jun 14-16. JeneeP and NalaC at the Rock, had many
complaints Sunday about the sculptures being gon. GeorgeV wants to see the
sculptures preserved thru the weekend. The tide does not destroy them, it is
the people kids in particular. Someone would need to be on the beach
discouraging this. Announcements could be made throughout the sculpting that
the people are still arriving Sunday to see the sculptures.
5. StephanieA: Plein Air & More is June 28-30. Friday night is a group show
at the Chamber featuring artists from the Gallery Groups galleries.
Kimberly Moore from SW Art Magazine will be here and her magazine will pick
an artist to be featured. On Saturday, more than 50 artists will be
performing throughout town. Village Centre will have Paula Vetter
demonstrating ZenTangle and Lo Hanners Nail Art. Volunteers are needed as
information aides to direct visitors to artists locations and to inform
about the event. WendyH: Ocean Lodge will have two artists starting Monday
Michael Orwick and Eric Jacobson will be doing workshops. Pick up fliers at

9. ElaineM: Cottage Tour 2013 Sept 14-15. Tickets for each event may be
purchased separately or as a weekend-long package. The events will begin
with a luncheon & lecture, beginning at noon, hosted at the Tolovana Inn.
The luncheon will be catered by Tour favorite, Culinary Capers. This year's
lecture will be given by Cannon Beach Cottages author Jill Grady. Followed
by a tour of homes and gardens from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The tour will
feature 10 dreams homes, vintage cottages, iconic lodging facilities, and
unique coastal gardens. In celebration of the 10th Annual Tour attendees
will have the opportunity to revisit nostalgic homes and gardens from past
years. Following the tour, attendees are invited to mingle at the Cannon
Beach History Center & Museum's reception and concert at 6:00 p.m. There
will be live music, door prizes, and a hanging quilt made by the talented
Marilyn Dwyer (pictured here) will be raffled off. Raffle tickets are
available by phone; one for $3, two for $5, or four for $10. 503-436-9301.
On Sunday the 15th of September the even will continue with a brunch,
catered by Culinary Capers, and a garden presentation by local landscape
architect Beth Holland. This event will be hosted at the Tolovana Inn at 11

3. JenniferW: The 5th Season of the Cannon Beach Farmers Market will be
open on Tuesdays from June 18 through October 1, opening at 1:00 with music,
prepared food, and community booths. All other vendors open at 2:00, and
the market closes at 5:00. The CBFM offers flowers in addition to a wide
variety of fresh produce, pasture-raised meat, organic cheeses, wild-caught
seafood, and hand-crafted artisan food products in the lively Midtown area
of Cannon Beach. Volunteers are needed. Even just an hour will help.
