Next Wednesday Morning Meeting - July 31, 2013, Pizza a Fetta, 8am. Bring
your own coffee cup. Coffee is provided courtesy of Pizza a Fetta and Bella
Espresso. Come a bit early to get your coffee downstairs at Bella

 

1.   EricJ: Stormy Weather Arts Festival postcards and Haystack Holiday
postcards were passed out and are available at the Chamber. Spread the word
early. 

 

2.   RichM: The lodging tax for the qtr ending June 30 was up 5.6%. The year
ending June 30 was up 6.5%. Short term rentals were up 15%.

 

3.  RichM: Two additional container sites will open the 3rd wknd of October.
The north one is at the top of the old Cannon Beach road and the south
across from the southernmost entrance to CB from 101. Container will be
opened for owners to refresh/add belongings.

 

4.   RichM: The city is working on a master plan for the 55 acre potential
purchase which would include a new elementary school.  

 

5.  RichM: The city is working with the School Board and the County to
acquire CBES. It would be used as a park. There is some talk of leaving the
gym standing.

 

6. KevinL: Introduction to QuickBooks in Astoria Tues Sept 10 from
530-830pm. Pre-registration required SBDC at clatsopcc.edu 503-338-2402

 

7. KevinL: Small Business Management Program - Business Coaching for
Business Owners. 9-month program starts Tues Oct 8. Meetings once per month
with location visits in between. Taught by Kevin - kleahy at clatsopcc.edu.

8. KevinL: An initial meeting was held to organize a county-wide art group.

9.  MaryF: Clatsop Community College is offering a workshop on Emergency
Preparedness. Saturday Sept 21, 10a-5p. 503-338-2408

 

10. LindaD: Find out if your business qualifies for tax credits on insurance

11. JeneP: Tuesday Aug 20 is the next walk to practice evacuation in the
case of a tsunami. This one is for the North end. Meet at the Community

12. WendyH: Just got back from a leadership workshop filling her tank.
"Courage is Critical".  

 

13.  WendyH: Women Only 'Weekend is Nov 8-10. It has gained momentum each
year. For $100 be one of 10 spots on the back page of Coast Weekend plus get

14. JasonS: Things have been smoothly for the police department. Summer is
going well. Manh warnings, but few citations are being issued.  

 

15. JeneeP: The annual Coastal Harvest of Giving foodbank benefit will be
Thursday, Dec 5th, again at Surfsand Resort Ballroom. $150. Five-course
meal. Only 150 tickets will be sold. Silent auction items are needed.

1.   Rummage Wanted! The Cannon Beach Academy is having a fundraiser Rummage
Sale August 17 from 7am to 5pm at 3115 S Hemlock St (in Tolovana across from

2.   JohnB: George Fox University's Choral Workshop is in town this week at
CB Elementary. There will be a free 7pm performance Friday at the school.
Don't miss it! 

 

3.  GeorgeV via Kevin Leahy: CEDR will be hosting a very important business
workshop from Governor Kitzhaber's "Office of Economic & Business Equity"
(Cabinet Level office)  on Thursday, August 1st  , in Astoria, at Clatsop
Community College, Columbia Hall, Room 219, from 8:00 am- 1:00 pm.

4.   MaryF: The Oregon Employer Council has scheduled 6 Supervisor & Human

5.  Coaster Theatre presents A Mid-Summer Celebration Tuesday August 6.
Doors open at 630pm. Show begins at 730pm. Tickets $23 adults, $18 children.
A fundraiser to support the Coaster Theatre. An evening of Music and
Merriment. Pre-show enjoy wine and cheese while bidding during a silent
auction and raffle. After the show stay for a dessert and champagne
reception .

11. TracyA: A Membership Committee under Sheri Russell is being formed by
the Chamber. Volunteer are welcome. Meetings on third Thursdays at 11am.

12. TracyA: Haystack Dollars are being printed and will be sold at the
Chamber for use in member businesses. Visitors can purchase these as gifts.
They will be similar to a gift certificate, but will not be for a specific

13.  LauriM: Ohana Media Group is seeking sponsors for Sunset Empire Parks
and Recreation's Seaside/South County "Day in the Park" at Broadway Park,
Aug 17, noon to 4pm. Get airtime during two weeks of on air promotion. Just

14. PatF: Currently, of 110 listings, 5 are on contract. This is down from
last summer.

16. JeneeP: The Emergency Preparedness Committee recently held a "Table Top"
session with volunteers to think through the organization that will need to
take place in an evacuation in the event of a near tsunami. There will be
more such sessions and more volunteers are needed. Contact Bill Vanderberg

17. TracyA: HRAP is involved in a project to encourage consumers and
restaurants to order and serve seafood that is sustainable. The Monterrey
Aquarium is certifying restaurants which participate. This is all quite new.
Only Fishes Restaurant here in Cannon Beach is on board so far. Contact Nala
