Next Wednesday Morning Meeting - Feb 5, 2014, at Pizza a Fetta, 8am.
1. GeorgeV: At Saturday's goal setting session of the City Council, one
topic discussed was the undergrounding of power poles and wires. The
franchise agreement between the city and Pacific Power is coming up and
this topic will be discussed with them.
2. WendyH: Another topic at the Council's goal setting session was
affordable Housing. A survey will be taken of Cannon Beach businesses to
see how many employees are living elsewhere and would live here if housing
were affordable. A Task Force will be formed to look at possibilities.
3. WendyH/GeorgeV: The 800 acre acquisition and the Cannon Beach Academy
were also discussed at the Council session. It is estimated that
infrastructure to allow access into the property will be around $3.5M. This
is normally responsibility of the developer. This is money the city does
not have. Financing will likely have to come from tax payers through a bond
measure. The Academy had hoped to open this fall in the Explorer Store
building, but that facility has fallen through.
