considered]. From Susan and David Hayes: "The Hayes' long term mid town
rental housing fell through this week. If you know of anyone looking to
rent a home long term for one year+ unfurnished please have them contact
Susan and David directly at dshayes2011 at live.com or 206-604-6136."

which he will continue to do, but Coast Weekend will no longer be freely
distributed in Cannon Beach. Advertisers will still get a small number and
the publication will be online. There were too few Cannon Beach advertisers
to justify the expense of freely distributing it here, especially
considering that the Astorian now owns and freely distributes the Gazette
here.

1. JonathonH: GaryH: In spite of torrential rain and wind to match,
attendance and enjoyment of the 5th Savor Cannon Beach event were at an
all-time high. All events were well attended. Saturday's Wine Walk (benefit
for the Children's Center) sold out (500 tickets) for the second year
straight. Only 90 tickets remained on Saturday morning and were gone before
the first hour of sales ended. For next year, get your tickets early. For
the first year, events were sold ala carte. Over 200 pre-sold event tickets
were from out of state people. Gary's goal is to draw serious wine people
to Savor Cannon Beach. There is room for more and more businesses to have
events going on to create an even greater draw. BobNer: Gary pre-publicity,
especially through Facebook was genius. WendyH: Lodging was not full on
Friday or Saturday. Gary wants feedback on ideas, suggestion for the event
- info at savorcannonbeach.com.

5. GaryH: As the Chamber PR firm, Gary and his crew at Pelican Productions
are spreading the word about Cannon Beach and our events. The focus now
turns to the Sandcastle Contest. Besides pitching the event itself, Gary is
pitching story ideas. This event is much more valuable to the community
than just the people who come that day. It get press around the USA and
beyond. Thousands and thousands of people who don't come for the contest
read about it and become aware of Cannon Beach and it charm and beauty.
This event gets some press every year, but this 50th Anniversary event
promises to set records in publicity. Part of Gary's push is with social
media. That's where you come in. Use your Facebook, Twitter, etc to help
spread the word. Like and share posts on Experience Cannon Beach. (

 9. In an email from Phil Simmons, he said "The school board voted tonight
to disapprove our proposal. They had an attorney go over his view of the
charter, and without discussion voted to deny the proposal.

Not surprising. But still sad. Not over yet. We have 30 days to respond
once we receive the districts written denial. After that? The district
has 30 more days to respond and either accept the proposal or continue to
deny. If the district continues to deny, then we can appeal to the state
board of education. If we are forced to appeal to the state board of
education, I am confident that they will grant the proposal.

But if we are forced to appeal to the state board of education, I do not
believe we will be able to open this year."

10. All: The snow began Thursday morning at 830 am and lasted about 12
hours. The 4-5" was enough to put things at a standstill. A school bus was
stuck in the curves loaded with kids and the curves were closed for two
days as was the entrance going north on 101 at Tolovana. A second school
bus was stuck on 101 between CB and Seaside and that road was closed while
cars that slid off the slippery road were pulled out. Only the brave with
4-wheel drive and/or chains were on the road on Friday. EVOO guests all
cancelled. Very few people were getting in or out of town. Lots of
cancellation. Some employees stuck here. KathyK suggested that in the
future, the Chamber serve as a hub for ride-sharing, info, etc.

11. GeorgeV: The CB Fire District is looking for funding to buy a $100K
truck for fighting forest fires. The recent fire above Arch Cape drew
attention to the lack of ability of the FD to fight such a fire. The FD is
asking the City to put up $30K and seeking donations from private
individuals. To donate see www.cannonbeachfire.wordpress.com or contact
cbrfpd at seasurf.net To weigh in contact council at cbor.us.
