2.  New at today's meeting - Lianne Thompson, Cannon Beach - candidate for
County Commissioner District 5. "Working as a team is essential in
protecting our heritage and building our future. We all bring part of the
answer to the problems we face" Currently serves on Planning Commission and
Fire Board Budget committee. Is the South County CERT (Citizen Emergency
Response Team) leader. Would advocate moving County Commissioner Meetings

3.  GeorgeV: Strong winds and steady rain kept people from moving around
all day Saturday during Spring Unveiling. Friday evening was good at George
Vetter FotoArt. Saturday Unveilings were not as well attended as expected.
StephanieA: Sales at Primary elements were not great. Had food left over
Saturday night for first time. JimK: Icefire had a solid weekend - similar
to last year. BobNer: EVOO sold out for dinner show weeks in advance. Saw
fewer people during day. WendyH: Ocean Lodge's artist reception from 2-5p
on Sat was well attended. Saw about 60 people. KathyK: La Luna Loca sales
were OK.

4.  StephanieA: Primary Elements Gallery has a extensive lineup for this
weekend's Spring Unveiling. Two locations - the original upstairs gallery
at Sandpiper Sq and the new location on Spruce between the Chocolate Cafe
and NW by NW gallery. Come enjoy the smooth music of Ken Hardy and 14
artists doing demonstrations and unveilings. The gallery's Saturday
unveiling time is 130pm. GeorgeV: George Vetter FotoArt in unveiling 10 new
images on metal. These metal prints are vivid and striking. Some images
will be unveiled on Friday at 6pm at the Champagne reception and the rest
on Saturday at 4pm followed a champagne reception at 530pm. Ocean Lodge has
two artists scheduled for the weekend. Saturday's unveilings begin at 1030
am at Bronze Coast Gallery and continue every half hour at a different
gallery until 430pm at White Bird Gallery. Don't miss Art from the Chef's
Table with 28 chefs, candy makers and coffee houses partnering with
artists/galleries selecting a work of art that has inspired them to create
their own edible art.



5.  CarmenS: Aaron Meyers will once again lead a Children's Music Camp at
the Sundance Lodge at the Sea Ranch RV Resort. June 25, 26. Concert Thurs

2.  New at today's meeting - Dale Barrett - candidate for County
Commissioner District 5. Dale lives on Highway 26 where he and his wife
Sheryl raised 4 children. He joined HLB & Associates surveyors and saw the
company grow to 50 employees before selling the company to OTAK. The
company scaled back. Dale stayed on and the company is now growing again.
He wants to see a forestry harvest plan to provide jobs. He wants to see
steps taken in the county to counter the current drug problem. And he want
to see the county take steps to save his and twenty himes on 26 from the
2010 mapping of FEMA which placed their homes in a flood run/no fill zone
meaning that if they lost their home to fire or other, they could not get a
permit to replace them. The cost is $50k to apply to FEMA for a change.

11. GeorgeV: CERT - Community Emergency Response Team. Over the weekend
George and wife Paula were trained as CERT volunteers. CERT is a nationwide
grassroots volunteer organization which trains citizen volunteers on what
to do in an emergency. The training took place in Manzanita where they have
trained over 100 people. They have achieved state and beyond recognition

1.  EricJ: The Cannon Beach History Center will host April Business After
Hours - April 17 from 5-7p. The Getting Away Together show/film will be
debuted.



2.  StephanieA: Stephanie is moving Primary Elements Gallery from upstairs
on Hemlock St at Sandpiper Sq to downstairs on Spruce St at the Cannon
Beach Spa. She will join Northwest by Northwest Gallery there. Cannon Beach
Spa will continue in a much smaller space. For Spring Unveiling, Primary
Elements will occupy both the old  and new spaces. She is looking at ways
to include other activities in her new gallery such as Tai Chi. Melodie
mentioned that she and Gary take Tai Chi at CCC and the their instructor
may be interested.

3.  TracyA: There are no recycling bins or separation of recyclable
materials in downtown Cannon Beach. GeorgeV and JohnB both have seen WOW
pick up both garbage and recycling and put them in the same truck. LindaD
says she attended a meeting where the technology of separating recyclables
from garbage was demonstrated.

4.  JimP: Easter Egg Hunt for kids up to 10 at Sea Ranch RV Resort Saturday
at 11am



5.  BobNer: EVOO has lots of excess green compost for anyone wishing to add

10. TracyA/EricJ/MichaelF: A meeting between the Chamber and Betty Smith of
Coast Weekend/Daily Astorian took place Monday. A plan was laid out to get
Cannon Beach exposure in Coast Weekend (print and online) and get the
weekly publication back into town for distribution. If approx 50 business
would be willing to pay $15 per month to have a listing on a full Cannon
Beach page, the Chamber would put up $150 for the masthead and a listing of
events. The ad would run once per month, but the publication would be come
to town weekly - approx 75 copies. Of course, larger ads could be purchased

11. GeorgeV: It's time for a push to get Sandcastle Contestants. We have
masters lined up, but need a healthy crop of amateurs too. Teams can be as
large as 8, but individuals are also encouraged to participate. Talk to
your family, friends, employees, etc to encourage them to participate.
Sponsor an individual or team or create a company team. Find registration
online www.cannonbeach.org. BobNer offered to and suggested prizes from
businesses to lure contestants. EricJ and JimP are approaching the schools
and other groups.

3.  EricJ: There will be a parade for this year's 50th Anniv of the
Sandcastle Contest. It will line up on Second Street next to the Chamber to
the east and proceed north on Spruce, around to Hemlock and south on
Hemlock. Pick up "Sandcastle 50" promotional flyers and brochures at the
Chamber for your business. The brochure has the complete schedule along
with a registration for for contestants. We need contestants. Limited

4.  JimP: The Cannon Beach History Center will host the April Business
After Hour - April 17 from 5-7p. The Getting Away Together show/film will
be debuted.



5.  GeorgeV: Twenty people and 5 dogs have now signed up. Town Photo

in front of Osburn's Grocery building just before it was torn down.

Photo 2009 <http://www.cannon-beach.net/events/gvtownphoto2009> was 5 years
ago on the beach with Gulliver and Haystack Rock. Town Photo 2014 will be
at the old Cannon Beach Grade School to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of
the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest and the end of Cannon Beach Elementary.
The brand new Sandcastle Float will be included. The  date is June 11th.
The time is 630pm. Check your calendar and see if there is anything there
that can be changed now to avoid your missing out on this historic event.
Anyone who lives, works or frequents Cannon Beach is invited to
participate. In 2003 we had 252 people and two dogs. In 2009 we had 333
people and 27 dogs. Besides the all-inclusive photo, there will be one of
just kids (16 and under) and one of the dogs (on leash with owners) For
historical purposes, everyone will need to sign up and pick up a number
which they will display for the first shot. For early sign-up and to save
both your and our time on June 11th, send name, age, email, cell phone,
address and dog for each person to george at cannon-beach.net. Note: Read the

6.  Eric: Next Tuesday, various location around town will be filmed for the
North Coast Partnership (CB Seaside Astoria/Warr) for a Spring Social Media
Campaign.



7.  EricJ: Our brand new Sandcastle float has been accepted into this
year's May 31st Starlight Parade in Portland. Volunteers to walk in the

8.  BarbK: 12 Days of Earth Day in Cannon Beach begins Apr 17 at 930a on
the beach when the kids welcome the Puffins back. On Friday Apr 25 from
10a-2p is Cannon Beach Shreds - donations are being sought to cover the
$900 cost for the shredding equipment. Friday Apr 25 at 5p is the City
Potluck at the Chamber. Saturday is the parade and booths in the US Bank

13. JohnB: Cannon Beach Chorus is celebrating 25 years. They will be
premiering a new Cannon Beach song on Saturday May 3 during Spring

14.  StephanieA: The 14 Annual Spring Unveiling Arts Festival take place
the first weekend of May. Pick up a poster for display at Bronze Coast
Gallery. Besides the 13 participating galleries, 20 restaurants are getting
in on the act by creating menu items inspired by works of art from the
galleries. And many businesses are unveiling new items and products.
Everyone is encouraged to make a point out of "unveiling" what is new. On
Saturday staring at 1030am, every half hour a different gallery will
unveil. Wendy has two artists scheduled at Ocean Lodge on Saturday. See the

Break, crowds have been thin. WendyH: Ocean Lodge and other lodging have
not been full. Mo's was down this past weekend, but pretty good otherwise.
