Reminder: Tomorrow is Wednesday and the WMM at 8am at Pizza a Fetta
(upstairs). Come a bit early to pick up your complimentary coffee at Bella
Espresso. Please bring your own cup.
I won't be at the meeting so if someone will take notes and send them to
george at cannon-beach.net, I will get them to the group. I suggest using the
notes below as a template.
Note1: Today, Tues, is a worksession of the City Council at 530pm in the
council chambers. Agenda Items include Food Pantry, EPREP Evac signs,
Outfall signage, Derelict Bldg Ordinance, Affordable Housing, Coastal Zone
Management, Dark Skies Ordinance
Note2: Next Tues, Aug 19, is the monthly Chamber Board Meeting 9am at the
Chamber Building.
Note3: *Today, Tuesday, August 12 is the Farmer's Market: Dine alfresco and
enjoy the music!*
- Featuring *The Jackson Andrews Duo. *They play Country, Folk and
Blues. Opening for them will be *Barney Perrine *who plays strictly for
tips that he donates to *The Harbor*, formerly known as *The Women's
Resource Center.* Thank you, Barney!
- *Brett Willard *continues to wow the crowd with his magical talents.
- *Upper market cafe*: *Open from 1 - 5pm for your dining
pleasure, featuring Ofalafel and Casa **de Tamales. *
- Say hello to our newest vendor, *Joe's Bigfoot BBQ Sauce. *They make a
fabulous Habanero Marion Berry sauce that will curl your taste buds, as
well as a straight Marion Berry sauce. Great on meat and Salmon, too!
- *TbeeS *has fresh, raw bee products, including honey, pollen,
propolis and royal jelly! Did you know that gathering one teaspoon of
pollen takes one bee working 8 hours a day one month? As they say, "busy
as a bee!"
- * The Cannon Beach Arts Association *and *The Cannon Beach Emergency
Preparedness Committee *will be in our communuity booths this week.
- * Barb Knop *will be "gleaning" food items for *The Cannon Beach Food
Bank* at the end of every Market. Thank you to her and the *generous
vendors *who contribute to this program.
- As usually, the spectacular *Cannon Beach Farmers Market Volunteers*
will be there, doing what they do best! Thank you is not enough, but *THANK

1. JimP, Pick up flyers at the Chamber to display and distribute for the
November 7-9 Stormy Weather Arts Festival. Posters will be printed soon.
The Friday night event will no longer be a QuickDraw. Suggested names were
Art Exposure, Eat Your Art Out and Pop the Cork Art Celebration. Ideas for
the event included a painting that all the artists there would participate
which would then be auctioned.
2. MargoD; The Haystack Holidays Committee currently consists of Margo and
KathyK. More members are wanted/needed. Please contact Margo 503-436-2618

4. JasonS: Chili Cook Off K-9 Fundraiser at Broadway Park Aug 9 from 4-8pm
- Auction, Prizes. Hosted by Helping Hands. Music by Bruce Smith. Donation
proceeds go to CB Police Dept K-9 program. $19k has been raised toward
goal of $25k.
5. KathyK: Let Kathy know now if you want to be part of Mimosa Madness
2014. To participate, you must open at 8am on Friday, Nov 28, the day after
Thanksgiving and contribute to the advertising and promotion of the event.

8. KathyK: Business Oregon (a state organization) hosted an Economic Forum
in Astoria yesterday as part of a 12 stop statewide survey of what local
needs are. Nearly 100 people attended, many from timber and fishing.
9. KathyK: There will be bus service on Labor Day for the first time. It

10. MaryAnnS: 17x22 heavy stock, two-sided (English-Spanish) Red Cross
life-saving posters were made available and can be picked up at the Wine
Shack at no cost.
11. WendyH/KathyK: The Chamber director search is down to three. Interviews
will happen soon.
12. GeorgeV/WendyH: The City Council will conduct phone interviews with 8
select candidates for City Manager. Only one is from Oregon. Others are
spread out across the country.
13. GeorgeV via Jennie Messmer. Our police chief and police department
deserve praise for the manner in which they handled last week's awful event
at the Surfsand Resort and the ensuing media frenzy.

7. JasonS: There have been three burglaries to vacation homes up on Ecola
Park Road in past two weeks. Please advise people to use timers to have
lights go on and off.
8. MikeM: The Food Pantry is losing use of its rooms at the Bible Church.
They need a location that has parking, is on ground floor, has power, is
approx 800 sq ft. A current option being sought is the kitchen at the
School gym. Suggested were the Emergency Preparedness location on 101 at
Tolovana and the empty building across from Surfcrest Market.
9. KathyK: There will be bus service on Labor Day for the first time. It

10. KathyK: Monday is Coast Guard Day. We have quite a few of these young
people and their families in the County. Welcome them.
11. JohnB: George Fox Univ comes to Cannon Beach each summer with their
Choral Conductors Workshop. They will be holding classes at the Community
Church starting Monday Aug 4, but their Friday concert will be at the North
Coast Fellowship in Seaside since our gym is not available this year.

12. MikeM: The City Manager search had 47 applicants. The group has been
narrowed down to 8. The Council will now decide which of the 8 will be
interviewed. It is hoped to hire by November.
13. GeorgeV: A visitor reported that they had spent 40 minutes (two
20-minute stints) waiting in line to get past a single construction project
