Reminder: Tomorrow is Wednesday and the WMM at 8am at Pizza a Fetta

communities to promote unity and partnership in fighting crime. Join in

Participants receive $2 in tokens at each market they attend and keep

1. JasonS: *Tuesday's from 3-4p - The Cannon Beach Farmers Market
Children's Passport Program*. Jason and son Jackson, along with Matt
Gardner lead the group. Children receive $2 in tokens at each market they
attend and keep a record of their purchases. They have the opportunity to
meet the farmers and learn more about where their food comes from.There is
also fun activities and cooking demonstrations by *Taste of Place, *operated
by Oregon State University Extension Service.
invest2. JasonS: 26 people have applied for the police officer position
vacated by Devon Edwards. 30 people have applied for the front office
position.
3. JasonS: With peak season upon us, parking can be challenging. Our three
information officers can be of assistance. If you can't find parking, call
the police at 503-436-2811 who can radio the info officers who can likely
direct you to an available space. Also, if you observe cars parked
inappropriately, report those to 503-436-2811.
4. Mickie Evans - Mickie and husband Mark are the new owners (since Feb) of
Radio 94.9fm - The Bridge. They come to us from San Diego CA where Mark
worked in News for Clear Channel. Mickie's trade is accounting. 94.9 is
online and can be streamed - www.949thebridge.com. Mark's 6-10am program

6. CourtC: The 1% increase in lodging tax is to be voted on at the August
City Council Meeting - to take effect October 1. This will increase the
city's percentage to 8% and bring the total to 9% including the state's 1%.
In the city's budget meetings, it was decided that 70% of the increase be
contracted to the Chamber for welcoming guests and attracting off-season
guests to town through staffing, improvements and PR/Advertising. Court and
city manager Brant Kucera will be meeting to draw up the contract which
will then go before the City Council.
7. JasonS: CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training is open for
enrollment. Classes: Saturday Sept 26 9a-430p, Sat Oct 3 9a-43p, Thur Oct 8
530p-745p. Drill Sat Oct 10 8a-1230p. All at Cannon Beach Fire Station 188

8. CourtC: Dave Springer has resigned his position at the Info Center

9. CourtC: A group of 11 international visitors will be in town the first
weekend of Sept sponsored by a state agency.
10. MelodieC: A group of 30 Japanese nurses will be touring Cannon Beach
