6. Courtc/GeorgeV: A recurring topic with the City Council and around town
is the idea of experimenting with making a downtown portion of Hemlock
car-free for a late afternoon or evening. The purpose would be to make the
area much more pedestrian friendly and entice people to spend more time
enjoying the food, services, art and merchandise offered. One thought is to
create a Fair that would take place at this time. Another is to just close
the street and let the people roam free. Another is to put out some benches
and flowers in the street during this time. Another is to allow restaurants
to put tables in the street and serve customers. Another is to allow all
adjacent businesses to use the street. The City is looking into what can be
done with existing ordinances. Send your ideas and feedback to
chamber at cbor.us

7. JeneeP: Last Saturday's Shred (ID Protection Day) Sponsored by Pacific

venue for performances.

15. GeorgeV: Matt Rippee of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept has
informed us that the 11-acre, John Yeon Natural Site at Chapman Point,
although wholly owned by the State, is off limits to visitors. This natural
preserve restriction was part of the purchase agreement in 1995 but has not
been enforced till recently. The property is signed. Existing trails are
being filled in and planted over.

16. This year's Forestry Tour has been moved to October 8th due to the dry
conditions. Forestry comprises 30% of the economy of Clatsop County.
