1. GeorgeV: 80K Cannon Beach Magazines are printed and ready for
distribution. All 77K of the 2015 mag were distributed. The magazine serves
as a promotion piece, a welcome piece and a souvenir. Many go to visitor
centers around the state and beyond. Many are sent to individuals upon
request. Others are picked up here in town at motels and around town. Pick
up a box of 100 or two at the Chamber for your guests/customers. If you

12. LauraK: In order for the Cannon Beach Gazette to continue, more
advertising support is needed. To that end, a new option is being offered. The
new "We Love Cannon Beach" Page will feature 2x2 full color spaces (actual
size is 3.389"x2") 12 times a year rate (first issue of the month) will be
$50/mo. 26 times a year (every issue) will be $40 per issue ($80 most
months except when there are 3 Gazettes in a month) Will need at least 12
to make a half page statement! 2000 copies of the Gazette are printed every
other Thursday. There are 25 CB residents who receive their Gazette in the
mail - annual cost for in county is $40.50 and if you live out of county
cost is $58.00. An annual online subscription to the Gazette only is $30 a
year. For the Daily Astorian, Seaside Signal and Coast Weekend combined
online it's $36.79 for 13 weeks, $70.82 for 26 weeks and $135.05 for 52

They will be inserted in the Seattle Times, Chinook Observer and Daily

Center & Museum welcomes an American great!  Lauren Sheehan is a
multi-talented blues and folk musician.

1. JasonS: Hundreds of Law Enforcement and Fire personnel along with the
area at large mourned the death of Sergeant Jason Goodding - shot and
killed in the line of duty on the street in Seaside. He is survived by his
wife and two daughters. A fund has been set up in his name for his family

1. CourtC: Chamber President Steven Sinkler and Chamber Director Court
Carrier briefed the City Council at last night's meeting on how funds will
be used from the recent lodging tax in compliance with the contract between
the Chamber and the City.

2. CourtC: The proofing of the 2016 Cannon Beach Magazine is underway.
Printing will take place in just a few days. Expect this 72-page expose of
Cannon Beach by the end of the month.

3. CourtC: Look for your ballot to vote for businesses/people to be
recognized Feb 25 at the Chamber Awards Ceremony. Come to this Red Carpet
event dressed for the carpet.

4. CourtC: With the opening this Spring and Summer of Public Coast, Pelican
Brewery and Fresh Food Cannon Beach, the need for a strong workforce will
be greater than ever. Attend a session with three HR leaders to learn about

5. JasonS: Search and Rescue has exhausted all areas in the 75-person,
4-day search for Ray Hickman, an 87 yr old Haystack Heights man, who went
missing during a walk on Saturday. He is 5’-9” 160lbs. Bald, blue eyes.
Wearing glasses. Last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt with a black
jacket, a red ball cap and tan work boots. The Clatsop Co Sheriff's Office
took the lead in the search which involved search teams from Clatsop, Co,
Tillamook Co, Washington Co, Multnomah Co, Pacific Northwest Search and
Rescue, Mountain Wave Search and Rescue, CB Fire Dept, Seaside Fire Dept,
Hamlet Fire Dept, US Coast Guard, CB CERT members, and CB Police. Contact

new Gazette reporter. Lyra graduated from the Univ of MN in May. She
grew up in Minneapolis, but her parents since moved to Seattle and she
most recently worked in Seattle for Seattle Magazine. She saw an
online ad for the Gazette position. She loves cooking, baking and
running (recently completing a half marathon). Welcome Lyra!

10. LauraK: Laura's daughter's Pacifica project is to raise money towards
local delegate tuition for Oregon Girls State in Salem. To that end, there

11. GeorgeV: Contrary to the article in the current Gazette, the Cannon
Beach citizen survey has not gone out yet and will not include visitors.

the Police Department a while back.

Chamber. There is a limited edition of seventy-five, signed and numbered

5. RobinR: The Arts Council of Clatsop County received a grant to study the
economic impact of the arts in Clatsop County. Please cooperate with
surveyors when they come asking questions at our art events.

6. The City of Cannon Beach and the Oregon Office of Emergency Management
are hosting a free event on preparing for a major disaster. March 3rd at
530pm at the Chamber Hall. contact riggs at ci.cannon-beach.or.us.
7. CourtC: Go to www.CannonBeach.ORg <http://www.cannonbeach.org/> to vote
for businesses/people to be recognized Feb 25 at the Chamber Awards
Ceremony. Come to this Red Carpet event dressed for the carpet.

8. LauraK: The memorial for fallen police officer Jason Goodding will be
Friday at 1pm at the Seaside Convention Center and simulcast at Northcoast
Fellowship and Seaside High School. A 300-car police officer procession
will start at Camp Rilea. Many businesses and organizations are doing
fundraisers for Jason's family. Cash donations can be made to an account
set up at US Bank.

9. RobinR/CourtC: The new Oregon State Parks Director met with Chamber
Director CourtC to discuss repair to the road between Ecola State Park
and Indian Beach. And the viewing platform at Ecola. Both victims of
slides during the rain soaked month of December. Plans are to get
things back into usable condition for Spring break.


10. CourtC: Prepare now for the future. "Transitions in Life and Business"
is a class  by Arnie Hendricks, Constance Waisanen, Jennifer Fry, Eric Fry
and Linda Moreland. Feb 22 from 1-4p at the Chamber and 830a-1130a at

11. CourtC: New Chamber Sponsors are Pelican Brewing, Fresh Foods Cannon
Beach and Cascade Sothebys Realty.

12. GeorgeV: While scanning black and white negatives from 1978, George's
last computer to still work with his now un-supported scanner automatically
updated to the latest version of Windows 7 thus rendering his scanner mute.
The computer came with a restore partition on the hard drive which isn't
working. Wanted to borrow: a Windows Vista or Windows 7 disk to restore the
computer to a state where it will once again communicate with the scanner.
