1. KevinL: Affordable housing is being addressed throughout Clatsop County.
The problem exists in Astoria, Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside and Cannon
Beach. There is a shortage of homes for young families looking to purchase
a starter home and for employees looking to rent. It is accepted in the
industry that a person/household can afford to spend 30% of their income on
housing. A person working full time at $12/hr could afford $624/mo. The
shortage of employees in the county is closely related to the lack of
affordable housing.

2. LauraK: Sandcastle 2016 is just a month away - June 11. If you can give
some time to volunteer to help, contact lkaim at cannonbeachgazette.com or
cbflorist at theoregonshore.com. Or for $25 you can be a "Plot Buddy" - an
opportunity to connect with a plot and have your name posted there. Some
plot buddies bring refreshments to the sculptors or provide them with

scheduled. Food booths at this year's event will include one by the Fire
Dept, one by Friends of Haystack Rock and one by the Chamber. Friday
night's parade, starting at 530pm next to the Chamber back Second Street,
does not require pre-registration. It will include the court of the Astoria
Regatta and much much more.

3. Pelican Pub & Brewery is now open. Come by for lunch starting at 11am
and dinner at 5pm. Congrats to owners Mary Jones and Jeff Shons.

8. CourtC: The Lumberyard is becoming the Public Coast and plans to open by
the end of the month with a brewery of its own.

17. GeorgeV: Tonight at 530pm at City Hall is the second of a series of
meetings of the City Budget Committee to establish the 2016-2017 budget.

18. KevanR: The Chamber Marketing committee has been meeting regularly to
complete a full, long term marketing plan for the expenditure of lodging
tax funds for the purpose of filling in the off season. The next meeting
will be looking at publications, both local and regional.
