meeting - followed by a goal setting session.
8. GeorgeV: Southwind is the name given to the 55 acres purchased by the
City several years ago east of 101 and above the tsunami zone with the idea
that Police, Fire, School, etc would eventually locate there. The property
is not in the Urban Growth Boundary and will need to be added before
development. That will require a serious commitment by the city to move
forward with development. The main obstacle is money. Infrastructure alone
is roughly estimated around $4,000,000 including roads, water, sewer,
power, gas, etc. The City does now have this money. The first step is a
$400,000 engineering study including the where, how and cost of
development. The City Council will review and refine the current
preliminary master plan over the next months.

6. GeorgeV: City staff recently discovered that some motels are collecting
lodging tax on pets and others are not. A letter went out to all lodging
saying that tax should be collected on all non-optional fees. Letters from
several lodging companies sent to the City prompted the item to be placed
on the agenda at last night's Council Meeting. Consensus was to have staff
create clear language as to what is to be taxed, bring that back to the
Council and make it effective as of July 1.
