Mike and Jane Brumfield - Imprint Gallery is open.
March days / hours are Thursday thru Monday 10am – 5pm.
Our Grand Opening is April 1st – that’s right, April Fool’s Day. We will
have a ribbon cutting event, sponsored by the Chamber, at 11am followed by
a meet and greet (and mimosa’s) until 1pm. Artists will be attending the
opening and available to talk about their work from noon to 1pm. From 1 –
5pm, the gallery will remain open through the day for guests and customers
but in addition our Studio Manager, Alisa Vernon, will be actively printing
from a recently made lino-cut plate, especially made by her for our
gallery, in our onsite print studio. Each guest attending either the meet
and greet or the studio will receive one of these prints as our gift to you
to mark the occasion. As of April 1st, we will be open 7 days a week from 10am
– 5pm. Running from April 2ndthrough August, on Friday - Saturday and Sunday,
we will be offering ‘walk-in’ tuition on the art of print making where the
walk-in will get introduced to the tools(and a bit of scratching practice
on a plate), how to ink a plate and producing a print from our in-house
archive of plates (all required supplies are provided). The classes will
cost $15 per walk-in and will last for 45 – 60 min each, with the last
class ending at 4pm. From September thru November, we will be offering more
structured classes each weekend (1 to 3 day classes) with the tuition
provided by one of our print making artists (a different artist their
technique each of the 10 – 12 weeks). All of the information concerning our
print making studio, classes and plans will be spelled out in a handout, to
be distributed around the town and beyond. We should have the rack cards /
handouts soon. Anyone can also check in with us online at imprintgallery.com as
well as Facebook, Twitter (@imprintgallery1) and Instagram.

20. GeorgeV: South Wind is the name given to the 55 acres purchased by the
City several years ago east of 101 and above the tsunami zone with the idea
that Police, Fire, School, etc would eventually locate there. The property
is not in the Urban Growth Boundary and will need to be added before
development. That will require a serious commitment by the city to move
forward with the development. The main obstacle is money. Infrastructure
alone is roughly estimated around $4,000,000 including roads, water, sewer,
power, gas, etc. The City does *not* have this money. (note: back in Jan
*not* was mistyped as *now*.) A bond measure will most likely be necessary
to move forward on this property in any serious way. The first step is a
$400,000 engineering study including the where, how and cost of
development. The City Council will first review and refine the current
preliminary master plan over the next months. Ideas from the public are
welcome - cityhall at ci.cannon-beach.or.us
