1. New at today's meeting: Brigitte Wahlbeck - co-owner (with Katie
Shamion) of the Cannon Beach Salon and now the Union Knot (see next item) Mark
your calendar now for Union Knot's Grand Opening Sunday June 10 from 2-6pm.

2. KatieS: Cannon Beach Salon (formerly Katie's Beach Salon) has expanded
into an additional space with *The Union Knot* - a full-service bridal
salon dedicated to the well being of women on their wedding day, as well as
other special events. Offering hair, makeup, and classes, The Union Knot is
upstairs in Sandpiper Square above the current salon at 171 N LARCH ST #25.

3. GeorgeV: The city's budget committee has completed the FYE June
2019 budget which now goes to the Council for final approval at it's June
5th meeting. Newly budgeted items include a code enforcement officer, a
full time emergency preparedness position (was part time contract), a full
time planner (was part time), a new police vehicle, a water rate study,
$100k to digitize city archives/records, to name some. See Gazette article

4. All: Memorial Day weekend was very busy - as expected. The season is
upon us.

5. Become a Plot Buddy for the Sandcastle Contest. A Plot Buddy is a
company or individual who wants to host a sand plot and adopt that team. 50
Plot Buddies are for sale at $25 each. Included is Company name on sand
plot signage. Contact jim at cannonbeach.org

6. JimP: Still could use more volunteers for the Sandcastle Contest on June
9th. T-shirts are in - 10% off to Chamber members. Plot registration
remains open till noon on Friday June 8th. Get your family, neighborhood or
business together for some fun in the sand. Sculpting begins at noon.
Judging runs from 2pm to 6pm starting with the kiddies, ending with the
masters. Cars off the beach at 630pm. Music by Thistle & Rose and bonfire
at 7pm at the end of 2nd Street. The Sandcastle Parade is Friday (the night
before the contest). Line-up at 5pm at the Chamber. Sunday's Singing Sands
5k Fun Run/Walk is the day after the contest with sign-up at 830am on the

7. LauraF: Coaster Theatre's Summer schedule includes two plays:
*Baskerville* and *The Musical of Musicals*. Plus concerts by *Patrick Lamb*,

8. JoyceHC: The 16th Annual Astoria Music Festival runs June 15-July 1.
This two-week event includes symphony, opera, chamber music, dance and

Cannon Beach Budget Committee. A budget for FYE 30Jun2019 is being
prepared. New City Manager Bruce St Denis will present ideas to balance the
budget to the committee - composed of the 5 City Councilors and 5 community

neighborhood meeting in Tolovana in June. Date and time to come later.

9. JasonS: If you are available, would you please help our first responders
strengthen their skills by playing the part of a victim? Your help would be
greatly appreciated as it brings a realism to the drill that we can’t
provide without you. You’re welcome to bring family or friends. We'll
provide water, coffee and various treats. We're trying to bring the drill
to an exciting new level this month. We will have a Life Flight helicopter
at this drill!. It is this Sat, May 26th from 830am to around
noon. Location: CB Elementary. Wear OLD clothes as moulage can stain. If
you have torn pants or shirt please wear them. Regardless of weather, wear
