Reminder: Tomorrow is Wednesday and the WMM at 8am at Pizza a Fetta
(upstairs in banquet room).

Note1: Cannon Beach Puttz - the Canon Beach Arts Colony's #1 fundraiser -
is Tuesday, June 4th. Holes are open from 1-to-5PM. Golfers can register at
Sandpiper Square, in downtown Cannon Beach. The cost is $15 per golfer, or
$50 per foursome. After the holes close, join in at the American Legion for
the raffle, silent auction and taco feed. (Tacos will be cooked by our
friends at Dough Dough Bakery!) Oh, and clubs are provided, but feel free
to bring your own lucky putter. And, if you're a Cannon Beach business and
you'd like to get involved, either by making a donation or hosting a hole,
by all means call 541-215-4445

Note2: Sandcastle Contest is just 10 days away. Contrary to times that you
may have seen earlier, all teams begin building 9:30 am. Judging: Sand flea
10:30 am. Junior and teen division 12:30 pm. Small group division 1:30
pm. Large group division 2:00 pm. Master’s division 2:30 pm. Cars off the
beach 3:00 pm.

Note3: I will miss this meeting. Would someone please take notes and send
them to me for distribution to the list. .. George at Cannon-Beach.net

Dozens of teams of professional sand sculpture artists, amateur groups and
families will construct remarkable creations in the sand during the 55th
annual Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest on Saturday, June 8. This event is
the oldest competition of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and the
enormous sculptures only last until the next high tide washes them away.
Visitors can also enjoy a bonfire with s’mores and live music or run in the
Singing Sands 5K during this weekend of family fun in Cannon Beach! For
more information, please contact the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce at
503-436-2623.

*For Facebook posts (please tag @CannonBeachSandcastleContest):*

MEETING NOTES

Date: 22May2019 8:03am
Location: Pizza a Fetta
Number in attendance: 4
Present: JimK, MicheleDK, ChrisO, SusanP
Absent: Everybody else

Notes by Susan

New to WMM: Michele has set up her business in Tolovana offering yoga,
massage (Sea Spell Massage) and instruction as a life strategist. She has
been involved with the Chamber and offered a good piece of information on
how to list an experience based business offering on AirBNB website.

The Gallery Group is bringing a new event: Earth and Ocean Festival Sept
20-22 featuring all environmentally themed gallery openings and so much
more. Stayed tuned!

The Fat Bike event went well despite a decline in participants. Chris
thought the weather and another big bike event happening down the coast may
have had something to do with that. Scavenger Hunt brought the bikers into
stores and many were seen later at dinner in several locations. Plans for
making next year even greater are in the works.

Cannon Beach Makers will have a kick-off with vendors at the Community
Hall this Friday, May 24 all day. They will soon open permanently in the
old "The Butler Did It" location behind Osburn's.

Is the city council looking to change the city park ordinance of banning
tents in city parks? Will the change be made so the Farmer's Market can
move to that location?

Cannon Beach Birding Group We are still out there every first Sunday of
the month, looking for our feathered friends.
The group is walking the annual “Around the Town” bird trail on June 2
9:00-noon. Plan for a 3 hour walk on different terrains. We start at the
lagoons, follow Ecola Creek out to the estuary, up the beach to Haystack
Rock and the through the presidential street neighborhood back to the
lagoons. This allows us the opportunity to view many bird species.
Hope to see you on June 2 or any first Sunday of the month for the regular
stroll around the lagoons.

> 1. GeorgeV: The RV Park is owned by the City. Escape Lodging is contracted
> to manage it. In the recent routine audit, the RV Park shows an asset value
> of $3M. The City's fiscal year return was $209K. That is a 7% return.
> Should the City sell the RV Park Enterprise and use the proceeds for
> affordable housing, emergency preparedness, a new city hall, etc? I pulled
> my numbers from the recent audit report which accounted for more than just
> net operating income and expense. My point was for the City to look at this

> 6. GeorgeV: The large and growing number of people choosing to visit and
> vacation in Cannon Beach requires expenses of a town much larger than our
> 1700 citizens. Even with our 8% lodging tax, we still don’t have resources
> for Emergency Preparedness, Affordable Housing, a new City Hall, and other
