Reminder: Tomorrow is Wednesday and the WMM at 8am at Pizza a Fetta
(upstairs in banquet room).

Note1: Tomorrow (Wed June 12) at 6pm is the Ribbon Cutting at 240 N Hemlock
(Behind the Ice Creamery) for two businesses in one - Cannon Beach Makers
and Cannon Beach Soap Company

Note2: This Friday (June 14) is Flag Day. Bring out the Red, White & Blue.

Note3: The Farmers Market kicked off today and runs thru September 24th.
Open from 1pm to 5pm, with music and prepared food and vendors. See
https://www.ci.cannon-beach.or.us/farmersmarket

Note4:I have posted 180 photos from Saturday's 55th Annual Cannon Beach
Sandcastle Contest at
https://gvfa.smugmug.com/Events/Cannon-Beach-Sandcastle/Sandcastle-2019/.
It was a perfect day for sand sculpting - not too wet, dry, sunny or windy.
The sculpting began at 930am. At noon I counted 400 cars on the beach as
some were leaving and more were coming. Thirty sculptures, including 7
Masters had to be completed by 230pm for final judging. Cars had to be off
the the beach at 3pm. A limit of 500 cars at one time were allowed.
Sandcastle Chair, Debbie Nelson (Your Cannon Beach Florist), her committee
and team of volunteers, Chamber Staff, Title Sponsor Coaster Construction,
CB Fire and the CB Police/CERT/MRC/DART all performed to perfection. So
many people had a wonderful day at the beach - for free - to remember and
share with friends and family. Mark your calendar now for Sandcastle 2020 -
June 13th - and let Debbie and John Nelson know how much you appreciate all
they do to keep this tradition alive. PS If you missed getting a
Sandcastle tee shirt, sweatshirt, cap or poster with the art of beloved
artist Bill Steidel, get to the Chamber soon before they're gone. Call
503-436-2623 to reserve.

Note5: I plan to be at this meeting and hope to see many of you there.

Notes by Susan Peterson

JimP – Note time change for the Sandcastle Building contest only. They will
be starting at 9:30am.

If you have old pamphlets, please dispose of them. Chamber will be out and
about with new ones.

Also, the Chamber Membership Drive is next month. With fabulous new website
coming, more membership benefits will be offered.

JimK – Business has been a roller coaster in 2019, citing bad months in
January and February because of weather. The next couple of months will
tell the story of traffic as a determent to retail.

RobinR – Real Estate tour today in 5 houses between the prices of $300K and
$3.7M. Reports that half the houses on the market in Cannon Beach area are
$1M or more. When less, the homes sell quickly.

JohnB – On that note, John reports getting 2-3 calls per week about how to
make their recently (5 years or less) purchased home into a vacation
rental. John will be at July city planning committee meeting to talk about
vacation rental issues.

PhilomenaL – The market opens June 11 – Sept 24 from 1-5pm New vendors
include Neahakahnie Smokehouse. The market is looking for volunteers.
Contact Philomena at 503.436.8044 or farmersmarket at ci.cannon-beach.or.us for
details.

Also, as mentioned in the notes from 22May2019, no plans or discussions of
moving the Farmer's Markets are happening.

SusanP – Brought up the new KMUN translator project for Cannon Beach and
the impending expiration of the county permit (good news- we got an
extension) To help move this project forward Robin suggested that Station
Manager Graham Nystrom and those citizens who have opinions about this
project come to the next Coffee with Councilors, June 17th at 10am at City
Hall.

In other news, a group of Purple Martins is called a “gulp”!
