Friday's Parade was smaller than last year, but fun just the same. Saturday's Contest started off a little wet, but overall the weather cooperated nicely. In spite of the Rose Festival Parade, the Sandcastle crowd was great. At noon, 500 cars were already parked on the beach while more were pouring in. Nearly 750 cars entered the beach at Tolovana accounting for 3500 people. There is a shortage of homes for young families looking to purchase a starter home and for employees looking to rent. It is accepted in the industry that a person/household can afford to spend 30% of their income on housing. A person working full time at $12/hr could afford $624/mo.
