Hi George and Tracy,

Yes, in my opinion, we need to make the investment of time and good service
for the cruise ships. We are lucky that passengers have chosen to come here
instead of Mexico. Surely, Cannon Beach merchants will decide to be
invitational. A little kindness today will surely pay off in the near future
for our local businesses. Word of mouth is powerful too with the cruise ship
passengers and their friends. At least 80% of Mo's business is by word of
mouth.

Mo's Restaurant is open now until 9 PM Monday through Thursday and until 10
PM on Fridays and Saturdays. If even one food ticket is on the wheel in the
kitchen, we stay open, usually at least 15 - 30 minutes more.

I'll put Sept. 22 on my calendar. Even though that is the week when the
Partners of the Americas" (POA) adult homestay program is here, in which I
am involved annually, when Costa Ricans visitors are here for 5 days (Sept.
20 - 24, 2009) on Sept. 22, I would enjoy making the cruise ship passengers
feel welcome. I'll join POA after the cruise ships have left Cannon Beach.

By the way, I can be available for one hour for sure, 6 to 7 PM or 7 to 8 PM
on Tues. evening to greet passengers. Some Thursdays, I can be available
too.

Love,

Jeanie

Many of you have already received Tracy's message (see below). I'm sure some
of you are saying it's not worth it to be open for such a small group of
people with so little time. I agree, but at the same time, if we want the
numbers to grow and we want them to spend more time here in the future, we
have to make the investment of time and good service. I encourage everyone
to give it a chance. This is an opportunity. Let's build on it. It is
certain that if we're not open and don't welcome these visitors, the cruise
lines will schedule us out. .. George

 Dear Cannon Beach Businesses,

Please look at your "Chamber Weekly Update" arriving this afternoon for the
new cruise schedule. Please Note: The first two large ships coming in are
Sept 22 and not June 22 as previously listed.

We have been working with Sundial on the Tuesday evening cruise ships that
have been re-routed to Astoria instead of Mexico. Regrettably because some
of the Seaside and Cannon Beach businesses are not participating by staying
open late and some of the tour participants have complained to the cruise
ships, the Seaside/Cannon Beach tour is in jeopardy. Please let me know by
tomorrow 12pm if your business plans to stay open this Tuesday and we will
send the list in advance to Sundial to let the cruise participants know
BEFORE they arrive in Cannon Beach.

Thank You,

Tracy Abel
