1. Goonies 30th Anniversary  is here. Behind-the-Scenes at Ecola State Park
Thursday June 4 at 6pm (Repeats Fri at 2p, Sat at 2p and Sun at 930a).
Followed on Thursday by Goonies Bonfire in Cannon Beach at 8pm at the Ocean
Lodge. The Truffle Shuffle 5K Run will also be in Cannon Beach on Sunday at
9am at the Tolovana Wayside. (volunteers needed for the run -
courtc at cannonbeach.org) Then on Sunday the Goonies film will be shown at
130p at Coaster Theatre. There are many events in Astoria - see
www.thegoondocks.org, www.facebook.com/gooniesday or
www.twitter.com/astoriagoonie. Tickets available at www.ticketswest.com or
at the Liberty Theater.

2. CourtC .. Cannon Beach was represented in the Portland Rose Festival
Starlight Parade this past weekend with the Sandcastle Float, mermaids and
walkers including Court, committee chair Debbie Nelson, float designers and
builders John Nelson, Sam Steidel and Dave Vonada. Special thanks to John
and Coaster Construction for building a "dock" for the mermaids to hang out
on, for hauling the float to and from Portland and pulling it in the parade.

5. CourtC: At last night's Council meeting, the budget was passed including
a lodging tax increase that will fund increased off-season marketing of
Cannon Beach by the Chamber.

10. GeorgeV: City Manager Brant Kucera has announced the hiring of two new
positions at City Hall. The new IT Director is Russell Barrett and the new
Finance Director is Laurie Sawrey. Both these positions were created to
move from contracted services to in-house services as cost-saving measures.
KathyK: Hopefully these people or someone at City Hall will find time to
pursue grants that are available to the city.

11. JasonS: CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training is open for
enrollment. Classes: Saturday Sept 26 9a-430p, Sat Oct 3 9a-43p, Thur Oct 8

19. The black oystercatcher is a US Fish & Wildlife "Species of Concern"
due to its small population size (less than 400 on the Oregon coast). They
have a nest at Haystack Rock that is vulnerable. Keep your dogs on leash at
the Rock. Only observe nesting birds from a distance.

2. DebbieN: This year's Sandcastle Contest is Saturday June 20. The fun
begins on Friday the 19 with the parade and dinner. Line up for the parade
at 445p on 2nd Street next to the Chamber for the 530 pm start. The dinner
follows. This Saturday May 30, Coaster Construction will pull our
Sandcastle float in the Starlight Parade in Portland. Tune to Channel 12
for the live presentation. Our float is #22 in line. Volunteers are needed
for many of the Sandcastle weekend events. Contact

Holiday concert at the Coaster Theatre Dec 30th. Contact

June 24 and 1000 will be distributed in Cannon Beach the week of the event.
