Hall Sept 3 at 630pm following a 6pm gathering at the pond/trail viewing
stand east of the Chamber to plant a tree and observe Cannon Beach's Arbor

13. Icefire Glassworks' annual Seconds sale begins Saturday Sept 5th and
runs for 9 days. 116 E Gower St. 503-436-2359
14. JohnB: The Cannon Beach Chorus and other groups used to have the
Elementaryy School gym for performances. Now that building sits idly
rotting with no heat or power while the School District attempts to sell
the property. We could really use that building to fill the void for a
venue for performances.
15. GeorgeV: Matt Rippee of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept has
informed us that the 11-acre, John Yeon Natural Site at Chapman Point,
although wholly owned by the State, is off limits to visitors. This natural
preserve restriction was part of the purchase agreement in 1995 but has not
been enforced till recently. The property is signed. Existing trails are
being filled in and planted over.
16. This year's Forestry Tour has been moved to October 8th due to the dry
conditions. Forestry comprises 30% of the economy of Clatsop County.

of $4000 is Oct 1. A year long project to be shared with the community by a
visual artist, musician, writer, or performer who has a connection to the
Cannon Beach Community may apply.

business would like to sell them for the Chamber, contact

9. CourtC: The next issue of Portrait Magazine will feature a 14 page
spread on Cannon Beach.
10. WendyH: A Community Potluck will take place at the Chamber Community

11. CourtC: Van Nordquist and Nancy Wesson are the latest hires at the Info
Ctr. Stop in to say hi. Consider spending some time there yourself
volunteering. 35,000 people have come thru the Info Ctr already this year.
12. CourtC: Room tax revenues for Jan-Jun were up 17% over last year.

the Chamber and the community to educate our guests about leaving items on
the beach. Chairs, toys, cans, bottles, etc are to leave the beach with the
people who brought them.
